In the interest of gameplay, the player will be automatically be recruited by Randall Flagg in order to preform tasks. This takes places within the universe of The Stand by Stephen King but will play as new character but will not detract from the main plot points in the story.
The Story: In the mod, the player will play as an ex-biker gang member who has been drawn to Las Vegas by The Walking Man. In the middle of the chaos erupting in the once greed and neon filled city. The biker, Jack Donovan, begins to hallucinate with images of Randall Flagg. Flagg sends him on a quest to find a person of interest who is caught neutrally between the persuasion of Flagg and Mother Abigail. Here, Jack begins on his search throughout the highways of the Nevada desert
with echos and reminders of the aftermath of Captain Tripps haunting him. In the end, the player must make a choice: give in to Flagg or choose your own destiny!
Here is what is planned thus far:
- At least 2-3 chapters to start and then more may be released episodically.
- References to the book and characters
- Various modern day weapons
- A Vegas setting, a desert setting, a highway confrontation, nightmares of the " Walking Man" (Randall)
- no cinematics
- FPS gameplay
- War/horror hybrid theme
- Reference to other King works
- Apocalyptic nature
- no driving sequences
If anyone wishes to help I am happy to accept people. Here is what's needed of all people involved to begin with:
- Some knowledge of mod work
- Ability to cooperate and accept criticism
- Some form of familiarity with The Stand
Here are people I need:

- 1 other writer to work with me who is has read the book or at least seen the movie

Recently, fellow readers, I was contacted by a certain Person of Interest to take the mod down as it seems the rights are still privatized to King, Signet books, and I believe the Tv movie studio. I am sorry for this ambitious project getting cancelled and I was excited to see its turn out. I am not even allowed to show screens of our work. I apologize for this

Just because this is based on The Stand, you already got my interest. I love the novel and would love to help out if I could as I have mapping experience, but my eye for detail is a little off so I wouldn't be the ideal person for the job. I was wondering though, would there be a sequence showing while the infection is hitting? I think it might be very interesting if done correctly and help set the mood for the whole thing...and possibly explain why Randall Flagg is recruiting him.

I have zero modding experience [tho some very slight mapping experience as im beginning to get into all this] but this project just grabbed me so I am offering what help i can give. perhaps any of the below or whatever you see fit.
-voice acting: believe i can do this just need direction
-modeling: would love to assist to gain experience. i am a professional architect and have some basic familiarity with 3dsmax and autocad. ive explored hammer for my TF2 map.
-artist: would like to help not lead. this is a new field for me. while i have artistic skills [again im an architect] i have not been in this field. would gladly provide a hand as i like the universe of THE STAND and would like to see a new stylization
-writing: not a pro of course, but have confidence in my ability to appreciate good writing. would also like to help on a limited capacity at first, perhaps provide cirticisms at least.

- modeler: If you want to map, send me a pic of a Vegas map you can make
-writer: you could become an editor
