The Specialists is an action mod created by Filippo "Morfeo" De Luca and Lorenzo "John_Matrix" Pasini, built on by a strong willed community and the first multiplayer game ever featuring slowmotion. The standards of the First Person Shooter still apply but are augmented by an intuitive stunt system, slow motion action, hand to hand combat and an array of melee weapons, customizable firearms, particle effects and the ability to play from a third-person camera.
The mod is gorgeous! The particle effects are extreme in their... Umm... Particle-ness, and the dive system is very impressive. in this game all the weapons are lethal. A 10mm glock kills people just as dead as an M4, but a little differently. This leads to interesting runs where you can pound off rounds and kill 6 or seven people before even taking one bullet yourself, as long as you have the moves down. Again, however, this is purely opinion. I know someone who swears by bunnyhopping as the most efficient tactic, whereas I find that doing a half-airwheel to slide dodges the most bullets. It's all in how you play the game, I suppose. Depending on the amount of weapons you are carrying, you may not be able to pull off faster, longer distance dives. This works by a 3-level meter on your HUD. If it is red, then you can't perform the stunt within the red area. The level of dive you do is controlled by your Y axis. Point your head up to the sky, do a dive and you can cover a lot more ground than staring at your feet and hitting the stunt key. On top of the stunts, there are the double jumps, which lead to very cool "Air Wheels." If you do it at mid- or low-level, you will end up doing a "slide" which not only usually keeps you out of the line of fire, but looks damn cool, too. It's got gadget options, killer stunts, slow motion and awsome guns. Did I mention it has bot support as well? Go get it!
Just BADASS is all I can say about this mod. Although it has no major game-breaking bugs, some imbalances are to be found, but back in the day I had a blast playing it. Give it a go if you like Max Payne or *put any other memorable action movie title here*.
