The usual response to complains about TSLRP was that people should make their own mod, then they could complain. 2 modders, Stoney and Zbyl2 (with help from Jinger and a few others), did.

TSLRCM was first released to the public on 24 september 2009. The release was version 1.4 and was labeled as a public beta, being a playable mod with few to no game breaking bugs. 1.4 was improved by patches 1.4a, 1.4b, 1.4c, and 1.4d. At this point, animator Savvy30039 decided to contribute her lean animation to the restoration, which was included in 1.4d.

On 15 march 2010 was the release of TSLRCM 1.5. A patch to the mod, 1.5a, was released shortly after to resolve some remaining bugs.

Between 1.5 and 1.6 the development team was strengthened by Hassat Hunter (previously testing) and Varsity Puppet (previously some minor tweaks, now HK-Factory, Peragus and other).

On June 24th, 2010, TSLRCM 1.6 was released, featuring various cutscene tweaks, dialog bug fixes and more.

On October 16th, 2010, TSLRCM 1.7 was released, which features additional bug-fixes and other additions such as: the Visas-Nihilus movie using the in-game engine to play (rather than a pre-rendered BIK movie), Kreia's Battle for Telos Mod integrated into the mod, the low-res BIK movies of the Dantooine battle replaced with in- game ones, and an improved dialog.tlk mod integrated/improved upon (for the English version.)

Almost a year has passed, but work still continued on 1.8, which is the biggest TSLRCM release yet. It has been released on 24 july 2012.

On 28 december 2012, after a long period of development, finally M4-78EP saw the light, adding a full grand planet to explore and experience more KOTOR2 gameplay in, and actually talk with Vash alive, explaining some critical details about force bonds to the player, meanwhile uncovering the events which took place just before the Exile's arrival.

The most current versions are TSLRCM 1.8.3, and M4-78EP 1.1 ("patched"), both released 15 March 2014.

TSLRCM Installation Instructions

1. If you're using an older version of TSLRCM (1.8 or lower), a game re-install is required before applying 1.8.3B.
(Steam users, skip to point 4)
2. After re-installing it's advised to apply the official patch (1.0b). Non-US versions require you to install 1.0a first, then 1.0b, US versions can install 1.0b right away. Make sure to apply the patch that fits your version. Also, after installing 1.8.3, the official patch can no longer be installed!
3. If desired, apply the high quality music and/or movie patches
4. Install 1.8.3B
We've had several users on Vista mention that instead of Program files (x86) it would point to Program Files/Program Files, causing the installation to fail. Make sure the installer points to the proper location of your KOTOR2 installation.
Default (32-bit windows); C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\
Default (64-bit windows); C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\

Steam default (64-bit windows); C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II\
GOG default: C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - KotOR2
5. To check if the installation has succeeded, try launching KOTOR2:TSL. If at the main menu it says "Restored Content Modification 1.8.3" on the screen the installation has been successful.
6. While we try our best to make this mod as bug-free as possible, with the many options of KOTOR2 and our small testing team bugs, critical ones, sometimes make it through. We will fix them, so check our site for any potential updates and patches. We would rather not have people play unpatched and then experience issues like the black screen (1.7) or red eclipse (1.6)!
7. Install any TSLRCM-compatible mods you desire now. If you're unsure if a mod you want is compatible, check our list at our forums, or section 6 - Mod compatibility in this readme.

NEWS - Extended Enclave Update

Popular mod "Extended Enclave" got updated to version 2.2. It's suggested you update your installations, especially if you use it combined with the Handmaiden 4 Females modification. Clean install is recommended by the developers.
Extended Enclave (TSLRCM add-on)

  • *Improved compatibility for H4F - D4M mod
  • *M4 version renamed to M4-78 Compatibility patch
  • *Post Enclave bugfixes
  • *Small tweaks

NEWS - Something Star Warsy

I probably don't even *need* to mention it, but going to do so anyway. Check out the newest trailer for the upcoming Episode VII. Looks good to me, now I actually look forward to it! If only they would also make a proper KOTOR3...

I honestly have no idea why we got featured, but thanks anyway! I assume our current #1 possition is due to that? Still would have been nice to know why, but I guess you shouldn't look a gifted Bantha in the mouth.

Hoping someone can help me with what I think is a bug. After I leave the Ravager, instead of going to Malachor V, I automatically fly to Dantooine. I don't have anything new in my journal, and the map is undiscovered (fog of war everywhere). Furthermore if I go to Telos, the game acts as if I am getting there for the first time, and then lets me walk around.

Any suggestions? I've loved the mod, but unless I'm missing something it seems like I am completely stuck. Thanks for your help!

I just had one other mod, to put a lab station on the Ebon Hawk, but I had the k_003ebo_onenter.ncs in my override folder. Removing it solved the problem. Thank you so much!

Have you guys noticed how every time you talk to a protocol droid, they twitch and tweak out like crazy? It's kind of funny, it reminds me of south park... but its still a bug :V

All right, I'm gonna check it out.
This is the part I spoke about:
The Exile had the option of killing Vash here or agreeing to meet her on Dantooine with the rest of the Jedi Masters.

Darth Sion, who discovered the Exile's location, went to the system and seemingly killed the Exile. On the Ebon Hawk, the main characters spoke of what will now happen to the galaxy. Kreia stated that now that the Jedi are exterminated, the Sith will betray each other.

On Darth Nihilus's ship, the Ravager, Sion confronted Nihilus claiming that he was the more powerful now that the Jedi were no more. [...]

Some time after, T3-M4 reawoke the Exile, who was not dead after all. They returned to the Ebon Hawk and left M4-78.

However what *actually happens* is the Jekk Jekk Tar exploded, Sion and the crew think the Exile dead, then all that happens.

I'm not sure who mininterpratated that piece of cut content. Since it's really all pointing to Nar Shaddaa.

Is it just me or is the combat now bugged? The game seems ridiculously easy, i'm killing bosses in a handful of hits (very rarely ever miss). I've even downloaded a difficulty mod which doesnt help things either (only difference is i get insta killed now and again)

DarthValer Dec 30 2012 says:

I have a problem with a quest on M4-78.

"It's 'Fixing Droids' in particular. After having talked with the droid near the landing area I went to the Black Market Droid who offered me the legs for 3.000 credits. I refused, hoping to find any during eventual carnages. Now that I've restored M4-78, the black market droid wont' speak with me, but I've got no droid legs and have already searched through all the planet. Have I lost something or it's a bug? I don't want the quest to stay in my journal.

Furthermore, I've read on Wookiepedia that Vash should have survived M4-78 and that the Exile should have been ambushed by Darth Sion, causing a discussion among the fellowship of the Ebon Hawk and triggering the Darth Sion vs Nihilus cutscene. Have I misintrepreted it, did you lack raw material to restore the original idea or did you deliberately change it?

Anyhow, the M4-78EP was a wonderful mod. The difference with the other planets is tangible (also given that I dislike the droid-focused setting) but it still feels like it belongs to the game itself and its "historical" value is more than enough to make it extremely enjoyable. And in the end, Lonna Vash has proven not to be the shame of a Jedi she seemed to be in the vanilla game. Perhaps something even worse :/

There is an alternative to that in the Central Zone. Dark Side, but well, no other option now ;).

Ignore Wookieepedia. That cutscene is for the dead of the Jedi after the Jekk Jekk Tar. Presumably in the GenoHaraden mod.

TSLRCM is fantastic, but the M-4-78 mod is an abomination. TSLRCM deserves a 10 with the restored content that, aside from the Jedi Padawan voice-over, is flawless. On the other hand M4-78 is like the undead - killed by Obsidian, resurrected by the TSLRCM team, but just stumbles along with no coherance trying to eat the players brain. The voice-overs are cringe worthy, the gameplay is incredibly boring, and the journal system is inadequate - most of the time I had no idea what I was supposed to…
