The Shift returns to the setting and timeline of the original story featuring the ubiquitous Black Mesa Research Facility security guard Barney Calhoun. As Barney, the player attempts to escape the alien invasion caused by the resonance cascade and the ensuing military cover-up. The Shift begins in a similar manner to Half-Life, as Barney Calhoun rides a tram through the Black Mesa facility to reach his place of work. After reporting for duty, Calhoun is instructed to assist in maintenance on a malfunctioning elevator. As Calhoun finishes repairs, however, Freeman's experiment takes place and results in a "resonance cascade", causing massive damage to the facility and teleporting alien creatures into the base. The elevator is badly damaged and fails, sending Calhoun plummeting into the depths of Black Mesa.

I've recently started to work on the third chapter of The Shift! My early beginning can be previewed on a video I've recently uploaded to the mod's page. The level in the video is still a work in progress and is still being worked on. I haven't quite started on the security sector part. The bit where you get your pistol and get in the elevator with the two scientists. I wanted to jump ahead a little to where some of the action starts! I'll probably get back to the security sector once chapter three is finished.

Another thing, giving you guys quick updates isn't all that practical with Moddb. However Moddb is perfect for news such as this post here. But sometimes I just want give a short, quick update like, "Working on chapter three!" or maybe "We're in the top 100 mods list! Woohoo!" So I went ahead and created a Facebook fangpage for any of you Facebook users out there. On the fanpage I will post silly development pictures, quick updates and things along those lines. If you're interested then click here or on the logo down below. Thanks for reading, stay awesome!

Sorry about the late reply, my internet has been super crappy lately... as for maping, no i am not currently mapping for anyone. But i must say that i am not a big fan of hammer editor, its screwed up many of my maps and has somewhat discouraged me from further usage. If you really need map makers i can give it a try for you, but i cant promise anything :/

It would be a good idea if you started making a security guard View model.

Well lets see here. That same logic can applied to anything. Why does HP make computers when Dell does the same? Why does Pepsi make cola products when Coca-Cola does the same? Metaphors aside, I just want to. I have nothing else better to do, it kills my free time, its fun, etc. I could go on and on but that is the gist of it all.

The author is not making the mod because the public needs it, he is making it because he needs to channel his energy into making a mod. We can only hope his motive lasts long enough for him to release anything.

A thought occurred, what are you going to do about xen, because Black Mesa hasn't released that part yet. And when you do work on xen, will you include the Chumtoad's Lair?
