After showing many screenshots, videos, etc, I feel it's time to show some gameplay footage. This was a pretty quick round in The Rising with me vs. Editor321 and Rapture. The mod is still in an early alpha phase, so more animations, sounds, bug fixes, gameplay tweaks, and overall polish are still needed.

After showing many screenshots, videos, etc, I feel it's time to show some gameplay footage. This was a pretty quick round in The Rising with me vs. Editor321 and Rapture. The mod is still in an early alpha phase, so more animations, sounds, bug fixes, gameplay tweaks, and overall polish are still needed.


Right now, we are using placeholder fast zombie animations for the necro. But fret not, new animations are on the way. Also, you may notice the combine stun baton that looks ridiculously out of place. The reason for this is because (for the Necro team) as soon as you spawn, you are randomly given a melee weapon (from fists, crowbar, or stun baton) but we are going to reduce it down to fists only.

A little more polish, as you said yourself, and it should be very decent fun.

The great thing about this mod is that it gets increasingly fun the more people join the game. Most multi-player games have this kind of "sweet spot" that is usually like a 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8 but really this mod just gets so awesome the more people you add to the game. Since all of the Necro voices are player controlled, the more people playing = a totally frighting background of monstrous screams.

Omg when i herd the first scream i was like WTF??? amd u turned and nothings there so i thought it was like an event kinda sound from passing a sertin area.Then afue steps forward your shoooting :D

I can sense some scream spammage and it's going to get really annoying.

But the scream does sound freaky, and I loved the whole atmosphere of that video, the level design was great, the music itself was eerie without being boring, the animations probably could have used more work, while the reload speed was probably fine (since not everyone in the world is familiar with how to use firearms), it seemed to be a slowed down animation and it looked slo-mo instead. Not a big deal though.

All in all, this looks awesome, and I really look forward to playing this, well done, keep it up, and i'll be waiting on future updates now :)

Yeah as soon as I start recording, my solid 50-60 FPS drops to 20-16 so the video is not really smooth. In-game, the animations are actually very fluid and look great (referring to shotgun anims, not Necro).

Thanks! Yeah those movies were pretty big influence. Remember the scene where that Christina? (forgot her name) and the other guy rescue Jim? They were essentially my inspiration for The Resistance.

Really nice. Looks really polished. Only thing i would suggest is possibly use some new textures i'm sick of seeing the same old hl2 textures in every mod do people not know how to create new textures. Anyway excellent work can't wait to see some more.

Cool! I can't wait to play this. Versus is my favorite game-mode in L4D, and this game seems similar too that. Amazing maps by the way! Maybe your mapper can make me his apprentice? lol.

Nice job with the big areas, its exactly looks like the city from Im legend. And i see you have good FPS when running on the street so great job at the map optimization too.

The streets are a bit blocky for me, looks like you try to hide the empty places with the grass. It needs bigger fences, police blockades, trucks, maybe some debris or a highway what taller than the grass.

Hell this looks like an endless city, no fog after 5 meter like in L4D, thats great work too guys.

Well I soon as I record, it knocks me down to 25-16 FPS but before that, I easily get around 50-60. Yeah I do see what you are saying, a lot of those low quality areas are just placeholders. Me being the only mapper have to focus on so many other aspects and team coordination so the map has taken a bit of a backseat until the other aspects are finished. I will eventually complete it!

I'd imagine fun increases exponentially with player numbers, ye.
Can't wait to see what kind of things you'll be doing with it.
But I sure hope it will be playable with e.g. 4v4 and still maintain its fun gameplay, since I can imagine an open map with screams coming from some where in the distance, sneaking up on you can be fun too, especially if you're only a few people playing.
Oh ye, btw, that's glowing-head thing you've got going, is that how you intend for it to look in the finished game?
Since I think a couple of glowing eyes might look even better.
Makes me think of the Blood Suckers from S.T.A.L.K.E.R... those buggers had me close to peeing in my pants nearly everytime.

But only one request - is possible to add gloves and clocks on hands?
Reason:If man knows that he going in dangerous enviroment - he should get ready and get all useable equpment with him
Clocks - know when night comes
Gloves - easy weapon handling
))))

i had an idea with the shotgun if it doesn't sound to OP,
You have the choice between buckshot and slug rounds. the slugs do major one shot damage and have more effective range. on the flip side the buckshot will do even more damage but only if you hit them at very close range so all the pellets hit. also maybe have a choice if you want say a flashlight, bayonet or some other add-on on the shotgun. Anyway bice mod so far, watching.

P.S: may i ask what the purple untextured item on the bench to the left is?
