The Red Wars Logo 2 Metallic

Greetings, everyone, and welcome to our third development blog for the new Red Wars 2. In this blog we will be showcasing the People’s Republic of the Khergits. We will be going over the faction's lore, playstyle, troops, and more.

The Red Khergit horde sweeps across the steppes, much as their ancestors did in the early days. Spurred forth by promises of a better future they fight the last remnants of the Vaegir Empire in a highly mobile war of supremacy. The Khergits will serve the Communist cause, even if it means soaking the entirety of Calradia with blood, even sacrificing entire generations at the altar of ideology; their zeal and fervour knows no limits, even the Vaegirs seek to reign in their eastern comrades, but for now they are happy to let them rampage across Swadia and the Sarrinian desert, but fear that their Anarchic form of communism may spread throughout the Vaegir populace.

Army, Power & Politics

The Khergits field a army of poorly equipped and poorly armed soldiers, their strength is in numbers and their melee infantry, colloquially known as the "Greatswords", and being steppe nomads they also field a high amount of mediocre cavalry to act as a shock and awe vanguard, but the Khergits are best not caught in a defensive position, as their forces cannot withstand a sustained assault from ranged units.

The Khergit form of communism is one where a hierarchy dominates, but anarchy reigns; A leadership class of warlords dominates the army, and the army dominates the peasants, and all are beholden to the Chairman and his elite political class. The political elite constantly fan the flames of anarchy, lawlessness and revolution to ensure that political opposition from moderates is suppressed through mob rule, and those from the old Imperial intelligencia can be eliminated by the Khergit elite’s personal paramilitary organizations with approval from the peasantry.

Their military is controlled by a kabal of revolutionary warlords, each with their own vast private army at their beck and call, and these warlords are always willing to serve the Chairman and his circle of elites. These warlords each have their own motivation, some serve out of ideological purity, others have more nefarious reasons, but avarice overrides all motivations at the end of the day, and in this political climate there's always opportunity to acquire material wealth through a wide variety of means.

In the next blog we will be showcasing the cornered Nords in the north. Stay tuned.

Regards,

the Red Wars team.

my best guess is to either keep a sidearm on hand until you can get close or just give all your spammable disposable meat shields with them and just zerg rush

Live the life of the light cavalry and make daring charges into the flanks. Not saying it'll go well, but it will be glorious.

How is it possible to beat ranged troops with melee in industrialized era? Does the melee troops have extra health and armor, like the Vaegirs, or they are just large in number?Either case is just too similar to Vaegirs.

Another problem is, does Khergits have large numbers? In the real world China is a farming country, while Khergit is a nomad country. They are not able to raise as much population as other farming countries in Calradia. I think that the basic strategy of Khergit is not to keep a large number of low-end melee soldiers, but to keep elite ambush armies that are good at sneak attack and hit-n-run.

Actually, beating opponent with large number is always a bad idea. Charging towards machineguns is even worse. This is true both in the real world and in Calradia. The real world counterpart (Communist China) relied on guerrilla warfare, maneuvers, and strategies rather than number. They are not superior in terms of number during the revolution. If they had fought a toe to toe combat against the Koumintang, hoping numbers and melee weapon would count, they would have never succeeded. I am always confused why there exists a stereotype of Communist China that they just mindlessly use large numbers to defeat enemies. No enemies of them were defeated in such a absurd way.

I hope the devs will consider this.

Well, such stereotype of Communist China relied on number to defeat their enemy could be traced back to the Korean War. Where the PLA employed human wave tactics against the more superiorly equipped UN force. Still I agree with what you said, as the PLA in Korean War is very different from the PLA fought in the First Chinese Civil War, which rely heavily on guerrilla warfare.

Good news, Red Wars Team!

Though, in my opinion this blog is not such large as previous ones, but good nevertheless.

Interesting. The vibe I'm getting from this dev blog is that the Khergits will be based on China (swords and spears, used by the Nationalists, Communists, and local warlords) and communist Mongolia (I read somewhere that at one point, most of their army was composed of cavalry?). They sound pretty interesting, actually. I hope battles won't be too tilted against their favor--wouldn't be much fun! haha

Thanks for all your hard work, Red Wars Team!

2 things, first, please remove 6-pocket uniforms, that doesn't exist.
Second, change the officer cap, it looks too japanese while being supposed to be chinese/mongolian (their enemy)

Please, add firearms for the khergits. The whole notion of people running with only their spears against armies with guns is absurd. Even posh cossacks and pirates in 17-th century had guns.
