The Red Alert, under development by the mod team of C&C Labs, undertakes one of the most ambitious tasks in C&C modding: to recreate and improve upon an original game. The mod, in development for Red Alert 3, is based off the original Red Alert's art and game play. Not aiming to model realism, it instead endeavors to bring the addictive heart-pounding game play of the classic to a world-class 3D engine, to bring back all of the classic units, including those from Aftermath, and to recreate the very "feel" of its art style. More than eighteen months after its release, The Red Alert mod is still alive and kicking, and more than 17 years after release, the classic Red Alert 1 game is fresher than ever. Whether you played the original game, are just a fan of the mod, or are new entirely, this release has something for you, with a host of gameplay enhancements, AI improvements, and bug fixes. In particular, we'd like to thank ZeroMD for doing so much to make it possible.

Indeed, in fact that mod was part of the inspiration for this one. I had requested to take up that mod after it had died, but that mod was so dead and buried, there wasn't any more contact amongst the members, and so nothing ever came of it. Their files are probably long gone by now.

Besides, I've already decided to start from scratch on this one.

Kind of strange how RA is supposed to be an alternate WWII yet the Medium Tank is "supposed" to be an M1A1 Abrams, which wasn't invented until much later.

The models are based on the in game sprites in order to best recreate the artistic feel of the game itself. Models will not be based on real-life counterparts.

Alright, so I had at a it a bit, and here's my tentative opinion. First of all, the number one thing hurting this mod is lack of coherency. When I started a game on Pier Pressure, I had my large, smooth-looking conyard right next to an original RA3 structure. It was extremely jarring. Second, many units feel underdesigned and bland.
