Max Payne 3 has just blown into town like an old lover so why not reminisce about the old days by replaying the original two games.... Modified!

Max Payne

The Real World
It wouldn't be a Max Payne 1 mod if we didn't have some high flying kungfu and bullet dodging now would it? The most recent of all the MP mods to be released, however it is only a demo. Lets see where they go with this!

Neo Trinity

It seems you got anime in my angsty. Katana draws you into the violent and chaotic world of an Assassin on the run: - from his Order; from the shattered remains of his past; and from the haunting screams of the countless people he's murdered.

Godlike Ass kicking

Max Payne@University
This mod was acutally modeled after a real university and a story played around it! It makes use of a few other mods like Kung Fu 3 Deluxe Engine (by Kenneth Yeung, MrUniq) and the Enemy Kung Fu (by Ghasp) engine to round (house kick) out the mod.

No safe place Stewie died for a reason

The Family
The Family is a truly unique modding experience, as it follows the story of the young gangster Tony in an entire black and white film noir-ish world of the 1930's mafia era.

In-game In-game

Max Payne 2

Payne Effects 3
It wouldn't be a modding guide without one overhaul mod, and this one is really good. With new spectacular unique effects and with lot of key features that will drammatically change the original gameplay. Everything is created to improve the original feel of the game without loosing the Max Payne signature.

Payne Effects 3 Features Payne Effects 3 Features

7th Serpent: Crossfire and 7th Serpent: Genesis
Thrusting players into a world of corruption, secrecy and vengeance. Two different chapters within the same universe. Made by ModDB's ye'old editor Stenchy and his team, so you know it is good!

Train Wreck Gameplay

Mona: The Assassin
Mona Sax is a contract-killer, a job at which she excels. When a Mafia boss sends his army of mobsters after her, assaulting her hideout and forcing her to flee through the city streets, it gets personal and real nasty. Play through a fan story of Mona Sax!

Your Max Payne installation folder should contain both the TRWdemo mpm file and the TRWProfile folder. If you open TRWprofile, you should find the folder Kungfu_data, and inside that should be the abilities.h file. If any of these files and folders are missing, simply extract the zip file again, and copy the TRWprofile folder over to your Max Payne install (where the MaxPayne.exe is).

Also, if you're using Windows7, you'll probably need to apply the sound patch that's included in the package. For detailed instructions, please read through the windows7.txt file in the docs folder.

Yeah Neo's moveset upgrades after the Matrix levels. For example, his forward double kick upgrades to a quad kick, and his forward finisher upgrades to the superpunch.

Are you seriously recreating all 3 matrix films into a mod for Max Payne? If so, I may have to seriously consider offering to have your babies.

Mainly the first two for now, and just the fights / battles that take place within the Matrix itself (not zion, the neb, or the real world - ironically).

So basically.. only the parts that really mattered (in the first two films) in regards to a fun game experience anyway? Yeah... My offer stands :D

Okay, tried this a bit now. The running animations for Trinity looks very..."Lol"? But her dogde-mechanics while holding the gun was awesome. But couldnt say the same for Neo, looked like he shot everywhere when you dogde-jumped bullets.
But with Trinity you could see the direction she aimed her gun all the time and that looked cool! You should focus more on this.
And can you do so that it is possible to play with Trinity in the Max Payne single player game? Would love to try those moves out more :)
In the Dojo fighting area I got a sound bug (every sound sounded gargled).
A bit dissapointed after all these years, was expecting more...

Hey tommacool, thanks for your feedback, I'll definitely take your points into consideration for the next release. Regarding the sound, that's very strange... Are you running it on Windows7? If so have you patched it? Also in your Max Payne settings, please make sure to slide both Sound Variations and Sound channels all the way to the highest setting. Otherwise, it would help to identify which sounds were messing up - everything? Dialogue? Music? And you didn't encounter this on any other level, or Max Payne?

I have no trouble with Max Payne. Patched to 1.5. Works flawlessly. The only place with the sound are in the Dojo in TRW, but in the first trinity level I have no problem with sound.
And when you run with trinity and jump forward, it would be just cooler if she landed on her stomach instead of taking that weird roll and then land on her ***...allso she hang around on the ground a bit too long (easy to get killed). You should be able to choose when you want to get up or if just want to lay there and shoot. That would be awesome ;)
I like atmoshpere you have created. It really feels like the Matrix universe, so I had to see the movie again :)
And will u be able to play as trinity in the Max Payne game? Would be awesome to try her moves there :)
And one more thing: Remove the "slow-mo rings" after the bullets when you are not in slow-mo. You should just see them when you are in slow-mo ;)

That's strange (and very annoying) about the sound bugs on the dojo level. I'm really not sure what could cause that. :/ Maybe try downloading again?

It's a hack, but when you do Trinity's shootdodge (the diving one), you can remain prone on her stomach for a bit longer - just hold down forward and then release to get up.

Trinity will be playable later on (as will every other character). In the meantime, if you're ok with editing a few files, you can play as Trinity in Max Payne right now. Open the folder TRWprofile\base_characters and copy the file trinity_base.h. Go up one level to TRWprofile, and rename kungfu.h to kungfu.bak. In the same folder paste your copy of trinity_base.h, and then rename it to kungfu.h. Run the game, and you should be playing as Trinity in the Max Payne levels.

Okay, I've managed to reproduce the bug. Instead of choosing New Game, simply choose 'Jump to chapter' and start the game from there. It doesn't matter if you're Trinity or Neo - seems this one slipped through the net. I'll get it fixed for the next version.
