Max Payne 3 has just blown into town like an old lover so why not reminisce about the old days by replaying the original two games.... Modified!
The Real World
It wouldn't be a Max Payne 1 mod if we didn't have some high flying kungfu and bullet dodging now would it? The most recent of all the MP mods to be released, however it is only a demo. Lets see where they go with this!
Katana
It seems you got anime in my angsty. Katana draws you into the violent and chaotic world of an Assassin on the run: - from his Order; from the shattered remains of his past; and from the haunting screams of the countless people he's murdered.
Max Payne@University
This mod was acutally modeled after a real university and a story played around it! It makes use of a few other mods like Kung Fu 3 Deluxe Engine (by Kenneth Yeung, MrUniq) and the Enemy Kung Fu (by Ghasp) engine to round (house kick) out the mod.
The Family
The Family is a truly unique modding experience, as it follows the story of the young gangster Tony in an entire black and white film noir-ish world of the 1930's mafia era.
Payne Effects 3
It wouldn't be a modding guide without one overhaul mod, and this one is really good. With new spectacular unique effects and with lot of key features that will drammatically change the original gameplay. Everything is created to improve the original feel of the game without loosing the Max Payne signature.
7th Serpent: Crossfire and 7th Serpent: Genesis
Thrusting players into a world of corruption, secrecy and vengeance. Two different chapters within the same universe. Made by ModDB's ye'old editor Stenchy and his team, so you know it is good!
Mona: The Assassin
Mona Sax is a contract-killer, a job at which she excels. When a Mafia boss sends his army of mobsters after her, assaulting her hideout and forcing her to flee through the city streets, it gets personal and real nasty. Play through a fan story of Mona Sax!
You can find many more gems right here on ModDB! Max Payne's new story can wait a little longer can't it?
This is the first 'proper' release of TRW, including The Construct, Dojo fight, Rooftop chase and more!
High quality version of the Wake Up Neo TRW trailer - in MPEG-2 format.
This is the offical 2005 Kung Fu demo for the Max Payne's most faithful total conversion "The Real World" (TRW). It showcases the latest Kung Fu 'Evolution...
dude...i was wondering.....why does the god console cheat does not work on the real world but on other mods the console cheats work....if you're the "i hate cheaters" type, please try to understand that some people like me need to cheat to pass. we need to cheat so we can explore other things w/o trying too much. you know what i mean?
Hello again Maddieman, sorry to bother you. I've got two questions: You know in a previous comment that you posted about needing to get that high rank to unlock a secret level? What is the high rank and how many secret levels are there?
If I remember correctly, you need to get better than rank 10 to unlock the bonus level. Every regular level has a hardcore version where you play as Neo in his reloaded outfit. ALso, try searching Trinity's level.:)
Thanks!
All right, I've played your awesome mod and here's my feedback:
Overall, this is, as you probabaly know, the BEST mod for MP1. The kung-fu system is great(better than KF3), shoot-dodges are awesome(though they need to be able to turn around) and the levels are just like in the movie. I cannot praise your mod enough. There are hovever a few things you should consider. First thing is that there should be a few more shoot-dodges for Neo. What I mean is that Trinity alltogether has 4 very good shoot-dodges, Neo only has 2(however this is only a minor point. The second thing is that the kung-fu arena only lasts for 3 rounds at the most. I defeated all the enemies on round 3 and when I pulled the lever I went back to the construct. This should be fixed. Third thing is that in the first level in trickster mode by pressing S and the shoot-dodge button Neo could do that really cool dodge move that he did in the movie on the Dodge This bit. I see this has been removed in the current version.Lastly I would like to point out that Agent Smith looks nothing like he did in the hd oics. Other than that very well done!
Hi oggi99, thanks for your detailed feedback. Let me address a few of your points: 1. Shootdodges - this is because Neo has a special wall running shootdodge - try shootdodging into a wall and hold run button down to extend it. In forthcoming levels like the lobby, you'll have access to other shootdodges like the classic bullet dodging one. When I release the TRW launcher program, you will be able to choose from several different shootdodge loadouts. 2. Absolutely - and you'll notice it's impossible (?) to achieve the highest rank. It's my intention to add more rounds to the kung fu arena in future releases (with bosses and advanced enemy types). Also, I really like the idea of having levels that 'evolve' over time. 3. You can perform the bullet-dodge by pressing F to enter bullet-time, and then double-tap backwards (whilst standing idle, it won't work if you're shooting). In the demo this only works for Neo (in his reloaded costume), but again, you'll be able to enable it as an ability from the launcher program. 4. All skins were revised in the last 3 months, including the agents. Smith was updated to match the other agents, and because his facetexture didn't work well with the model, so I put a lot of work in to make him look better. I think it looks much closer to smith now, but I guess it's a matter of opinion. Anyway, thanks for your positive feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the mod overall - it makes what I do worthwhile.
Thanks Maddieman. Sorry for being a nit harsh but I just had to be honest with you. Also on Neo's wall running dodge I keep dying when I land it. This also happens on Trinity's first level with all the jumping. Any ideas on how to fix that? Thanks,
Yeah, that's a known issue I'm looking into. It will hopefully be fixed in the next release.
Anyone give me a hint about the "secret level"?
I can't find it.
Depends which one. :) Try getting a high ranking in the kung fu arena...
