The Rake is a new Amnesia: The Dark Descent custom story that I'm currently developing. For those of you who have been tracking my first mod, "Ben's Story", is currently on hold at the moment. Long story short, after developing it for so long, I became bored with it. I'm still developing it though and will not quit on it. In the mean time, I will be developing "The Rake".
This is story is based off of the Creepypasta, "The Rake". If you don't know what it is, I'd advise reading it. If you do know what it is, then great! Obviously I don't believe in the whole Creepypasta stuff, but I could definitely make an interesting story out of one. Unfortunately, The Rake is a short story, so I need to add some of my own stuff to make it a longer custom story.
-You Only Live Once. That's right. If you die, its instant game over. Save frequently.
-Based on a "true" story.
-Detailed mapping and designing with atmosphere (most things you can't interact with. This may be changed later. You also will NOT experience entities colliding with each other.)
-Short story (I'm aiming for 10 to 20 minutes at the most..)
-No jump scares
-Custom sounds and music
-Re-sized some entities and carefully placed walls and floors to work on older computers (less resource dependent)
-Monsters now have custom music depending on what they do
-Some laudanum's, sanity, and oil potions have their amounts tweaked to give you more or extra of what that potion is used for
**You will need the Justine 1.2 patch in order to play this story properly. Otherwise, you will experience annoying glitches.**
How to install:
-There is a "README.txt" file included with this story. Its an ordinary custom story, so just drag and drop in the "custom_stories" folder. The README.txt also includes a walkthrough if you get stuck.
-The Creepypasta story is set around the years of 2003 to 2006. Since this is Amnesia and I don't know how to make modern things, nor will I learn to make a simple story as this, it will be set at a much earlier date to have the old, regular Amnesia feel to it.
***VIDEO IS ON THE WAY, WAITING FOR AUTHORIZATION FROM MODDB***
-During the summer of 2003, events in the northeastern United States involving a strange, humanlike creature sparked brief local media interest before an apparent blackout was enacted. Little or no information was left intact, as most online and written accounts of the creature were mysteriously destroyed.
