Projex is a Valve's Portal Mod which is a personal creation that tributes the fabulous game of Portal. This is more of a skin rather than a real-game Mod of Portal, with additional puzzles. No scripts and or codes, I customized the MOD to adjust the look of the game and create basic puzzles for Level Design. This is a Beta version; the graphics are not polished, but publishable. Level design is functional but, not fully tested on a large audience. Projex is for the advanced players, whom have completed and knowledgeable about Portal. Beginners will encounter above average puzzles that are not difficult.

I have a serious problem: I start up the mod, get to the first room, open both portals, crash. This tends to happen with extremely high res textures on certain systems, portals do not like them. I checked the files and you made the textures huge, if textures were shrunken would be significantly smaller in filesize (BIG plus) and would fix this problem. Generally a texture res standard is like this:

256 X 256 - Low Res
512 X 512 - Default Res
1024 X 1024 - High Res

Higher than 1024 X 1024 has the risk of crashing portals on certain systems. I know it looks prettier but you need to balance file size and quality. Plus the occasional person who cannot play becuase thier system was built in just a way that it breaks the game.

I took a chance of course, doing the major of my texture 2048*2048, simply to get details. I know the standard rez "established" from a long time, I just pushed further.
I'll release a texture pack lower for those got crashes.
Sorry about that and thx for comments !

Now I understand why this mod looked better and sexier than any other mod I have played...
High-res textures. Gotta love 'em.

Looks amazingly interesting! I love the art style and the texturework and the modelling! Absolutely amazing! Though I would recommend you to make the doors stick out a bit more so that the players have an esier time finding exits. That was why in portal 1 most of the objects of interest in a level would be different, for example the doors were circular. Other than that, amazing! What do you use for modelling?

Awesome mod man!

The only things i think you should add to it is different voices for the turrets (something deeper to fit the mood) and a new player model.

Thx a lot guys!

-to BenQ300, forehanddeath11, handjh: you will find, investigate more space, not finish with one simple turret. Puzzle 5 have been hacked/destroyed by someone, some aperture-testers, you must look around...

About sounds, I started to redo Turrets voices, with some robot-speach programs, but I decided to not release them (sounds modifications), maybe for the final one. Also there's not ambiance sounds at all, times ran up to quickly, I'll see if I can get help from one of my friend.

Tron influences: in fact I started one year and half ago this mod, with this style, it was a coincidence having the Tron feeling, my main influences came front **** trilogy (as soad667 said, I'll not spoil it, but if you want to see more and look at walkthrough, visit www.theprojex.com) and Blame manga

to DoubleA2: I used 3dsmax simply, knowing how to export and get right animations was a problem for me, don't want to lookat code, and hardly found tutorial for hammer weapons that fit with portal, I investigate the .SMD and .qc from Portal model decompiled with a small apps from Nemesis.thewavelength.net

Wow, just wow. Found this mod almost by accident and i was pleasantly surprised to see there is a download available too. Pics looked more than interesting, so giving it a try was the next thing that made sense.

Well, just finished it and i can't say how much i enjoyed it. Haven't found any problems, except that the turret voices felt a bit out of place. Other than that, everything went fine. I hope you have plans to take this further, on Portal or Portal 2.

Oh, and thumbs up for the movie reference, one of my favourites. I'm not talking about Tron mentioned above, but i don't want to spoil the name of the movie.

Keep it up, great mod. It deserves a lot more popularity.

Hello, DoubleA2 here, and I was just wondering, what programs did you use to make your Portalgun model? I am going to be making a new portalgun model soon, and I need advice. Thanks.
