Poly count?
To be optimized, do not worry)
It's a great model technically, the quads are nicely in order and smoothing groups are made properly. BUT this is not actually well done for HL2 use. And polycount will be twice whats shown here because HL2 only uses triangles.
You should maybe drop level of detail a bit in complex socket profiles, and roundness in general. But biggest mistake is that every seam is continuous. Since this is not an organic model that will have the bones twisting every seam, non-continuous seams are perfectly alright and would rid maybe 75% of the polygons.
OFC you can say it will be optimized but that means redoing most of the work that has already been done.
Thanks for the comment and for the compliment!) And, yeah, I watch indeed triangle count.
The most of the model's extra polygons were made deliberately and I've made it so it could be easily removed in future. I usually follow the workflow that doesn't "overpolygonize" (if I can say so) model, but also allows to make it as simple as possible. So, maybe 75% would be too much, but roughly around 50-60 is highly possible))
And, no, I won't be redoing anythings, I made certain calculations during modelling so it can be optimized without any trouble)
Thanks again!)
