TNM is a huge singleplayer mod for Deus Ex based on the gaming community, finally released after 7 years of development.
Just excellent. Perfect voice acting (and TONS of it), fantastic sound and music, very original characters and story line. Large maps with lots of alternatives and creativity. Very rewarding play (perhaps multiple plays) for the resourceful mind/player.
One of the few game mods that actually adds content in reflection of the original game. Every bit as well done as the original game, but much longer.
FOON or SPORK ? It is your call... What is clear is that a good, creative story told through excellent voice acting, backdropped with original and terrific music set in a large and rewarding environment trumps overused lip-gloss shaders and on pigs of games.
Obviously the plot is not something to take seriously. It is all in good fun. But the maps are incredibly well done and the voice acting is so well performed that you'd think that it was a professional game company tat released this mod. Very impressive for a group of fans to accomplish that's for sure.
its the biggest mod I've ever seen and its only mod I've played where the voice acting was absolutely brilliant... other mods I've played haven't even attempted voice acting (apart from a farcry mod called Matto4).
Unfortunately the game lost a bit of steam towards the end, the plot was thrown at you cheaply, without much detective work, and it ended when I was really starting to get into it... The end part of the game was a little confusing around in the ship. I ended back tracking a few to many times.
Played the WC path this time. But a few small criticisms is when I go up to that bum in front of the sols bar. For some reason my character says "don't talk about Scara like that!" when the bum tells me about having experiments done on him by World Corp.. I found that weird how the game forced me to treat the bum like that and kiss Scara's ***, and don't appreciate being forced to say something I wouldn't normally say. Just cause I work for Scara doesn't mean I'm going to not listen to criticism about him. I find that working for Scara is actually a very 'distant' job where you don't really get emotionally involved or make friends with anyone, or even meet much people from world corp... A dialogue option to reflect that would have been nice.
In fact finding out some of the secrets of World Corp.. while working for World Corp actually sounds like a interesting motivation to join World Corp in the first place. It makes it easier to snoop around the place after all.
Actually the mod does give you late in the game a secondary objective of infiltrating the sub level of World Corp while working for Scara to find Zero Presence (without telling Scara about it).
I felt compelled to work for Scara for the money as a hitman/assassin, but I also wanted to be free to play detective and work to find out Scara's dirty secrets (the end of the game also gives you a choice to ban Scara and take control of world corp eventhough you worked for him... so it makes perfect sense)
