This beta weapon is my mobile phone, it may be used as a flashligh replacement, and if i can get the code will work it will have the ability to control your flashlight, and upon Moudr Click it will take a screenshot!
More pictures will be added soon to show what it looks like ingame.
P.S The little camera screens works perfect and acts like a real camera phone :D

you should make it where we can check the time with it too, like in dead rising with your watch.
The source engine is not created for dynamic time, and i have no idea how i would go about creating a timer ingame like that.
I also dont want to steal ideas from dead rising, i just want to base some features off of things i thought were good about the game.

Well that is my "Cell Phone", its a Sony Ericson W810i. Its nothing special but it does have a camera, and a built int flashlist that is suprisingly bright.
Hence what i based it on.
I got the idea from having to travel round my house late at night, and my phone is always handy, so i put the light on, and set the camera on night mode and walk round because its easier to see :D

Haha, well its actually VERY similar to my phone! But my phone is sligtly more Oval, but has the exact same design as the one here in the picture.

You ovbiously havent seen a Sony Ericcson in light action. I can bright up my front door perfect from up my stairs, thats like 20ft or something, and the design is near perfect as a mentioned before. :D
i rember that in some movies even the mobile phone lcd screens gets used as a light source. so thers no doubts that the flash on camera can do better
(the fact that you can take screenshots like that its also a damn nice thing!!:D)
Well its not the LCD being used, nor is it the flash from the camera. On my phone, i press "LEFT" to enter camera mode, and then press "*" to turn on the built in flash light on the back.
This is how it works, and that is actually how bright it really is!

Very cool; you should be able to take pictures with it and teh screen is hopefully dynamic at what you are looking at. That would make for a sweet feature.
It can be used for taking pictures, but not Dynamically. You just click, and the phone will vanish and a screen shot will be taken and saved for you :D

Well in the story, when you get your armour it will have a built in flashlight, and so will some of the guns, this is just for the beginning whne you are weaponless and looking for a way to escape.

Hm..maybe you could animate him getting it closer to his face and holding it with both hands to take screen, and about time...make mission specific time or something?(so you have exact timer for mission(like, from 4am to 5pm(maybe you could save it somehow or something)and make it faster then real time(ie 1 sec-1 minute ingame)
Hmm, well this is an older image, its closer to the screen now, but i dont think it will be used for game stats. Mostly because im having this as a free roaming game, mission timers are annoying and i love the feel and ability to do what you like when you like. Maybe kill tonnes of zombies, do a mission, get a new place, kill some more and advance through the game having such a fun time.
I believe without mission timers i can achieve this and it will be allot better.
pretty cool, it would be funny if you could hit the zombies with the phone though, but that is just my opinion, well anyway good job as all ways.
I considered that, till i relised how light and weak my phone is in rea life :P So not at the moment will i be able to hit with it sorry!

Its a flashllight replacement for certian levels. Larger weapons like machine guns will have flashlight attachments :)

Just need other sprite for light, and other ambiance for screenshot, just the light of the phone and dark for see the wip.
I didn't quite understand that, but its using normal flash light for now, and my camera (the camera in the picture) happens to have an exact same light shape as the HL2 flash light, and i will have to upload some pics because nobody will believe me.
I was surprised a few people didn't know camera phones have light on them this bright :O
Real nice idea. It'll probably make you feel more like a guy who's trying to survive the zombie acopolypse using anything he can find. Including any kind of light source. :D

I'm not sure the light would be that bright and distant. Maybe make it a little less illuminous so it will be scarier when you run out of the real flash light =)
Well no, ive said this too many times.
This is based of my mobile phone. And im being honest when i say that it is near exactly how bright my phone is.
You do realise to change the brightness and stuff would take me 2 minutes? All i have to do is change three small numbers. So realise that if i wanted it realistic, then i would have changed it already.
It seems i will have to get a real photograph of my phone to prove it to people.
i just realizied that even zombie panic makes use of a phone (to blow explosives off). its a motorola razor or something (it looks way too mutch inactive in game, your phone looks far better. mabye the phone screen should have a little in build menu too see achivments or the zombies killed or the actual objects!

You seem to think im stealing ideas from zombie panic. I've only played that game once, and that was on the first beta demo.
I have no stolen anything, nor and am i basic any of this on it. This phone is for nothing but a flash light and for taking screen shots.

but what if zombies could be attired by loud sounds? and what if you need to distract a big group of them?
mabye if you could use it as a bait by placing it in the ground and making it play a ring tone......(and the possibility to add custom mp3s to play. that would be priceless ^_^)
And im pretty certain if you are in a zombie infested world you would put your phone on silent. Distracting them to you is the least clever thing.
