Set in the 22nd century, Mass Effect, developed by BioWare Corporation, is a third-person, role-playing shooter that focuses on the story of Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine who must do everything possible to save the galaxy from the Reaper threat.


Mass Effect: Unification is a total-conversion mod that adds the Mass Effect era to Instant Action. As of v1.2 (R5), you can fight as the Systems Alliance, the Heretic Geth, the Collectors, or the Evolved Geth on three new custom maps, all of the stock maps, and all maps from the Sol Map Pack.

Yep! That's right! Seeing as how it's Summer and I'm on break, I figured I'd publicy release what I've worked on during my past few seasonal two-week breaks. Among various other updates - such as improved rifle and pistol animations, and new CTF mechanics - you can finally test out the brand new custom HUD that I designed as well as Endor, which is finally supported! (special thanks to AQT for revamping the map) Not only that, but you can download and test them out right now in the open beta! I'm releasing another open beta because I need feedback, and seeing as how I got a decent amount of it from the previous open betas, I've decided to let you all give things a shot and help debug the mod! (A third time!)

NOTE: R5 IS REQUIRED IN ORDER FOR THIS PATCH TO WORK

To install the patch, view or download the build manifest by following the first link above; the build manifest contains everything you need to know about this build. As soon as you have the build manifest open, next to "File Path," follow the link "Patch Version (R5-R6) (Mediafire)" to download the R6 production patch setup file.

If you do decide to play the open beta, I implore you to not just pass up any bugs you encounter as things that "somebody else reported/will probably report," but instead take the 5-10 minutes to report the bugs. It's easy, it doesn't take very much time, and it will help improve the mod. Don't feel obligated to report things, but keep in mind the simple fact that the quality of the mod is largely based on the bugs that are and are not reported.

Thanks for the reply Marth. I was wondering, will it include a Geth vs. Collector match up? Also, have you considered rebalancing the Geth pulse rifle(making it more accurate)?

Realistically that isn't the best idea in terms of canon. Assuming the Geth are the Heretics, which they would be because they are the same geth fighting the alliance. Now the heretics (to my knowledge) follow the reapers, and the collectors are indoctrinated by the reapers, for that reason it would be like the reapers trying to battle themselves.
However the 'Old Units' (I think they are called) vs the collectors would make sense.

Geth are Geth, therefore it would be impossible to discriminate between Heretic and Non-Heretic Geth. I would certainly like to see a Geth vs.Collectors match up for the sake of game play and variety, but I do agree that some assumptions will have to be made depending on the match up. I do not think that this should translate into more work for the developers though, and that there should only be one Geth faction with one name. Sorry for the longer response. :)

Now I downloaded this about a week ago, been playing it quite a bit playing every map possible etc and bearing in mind this is the first version. This is by far the best mod I have ever played! apart from the obvious things here and there, I would have almost been convinced this was the full thing :) Well done, 10 out of 10 :D I also found sheppard kind of under powered, more just a regualar with more weapons and more health really.
In response to tango I don't believe the harbinger was over-powered, the geth prime is pretty OP I believe, I was on felucia, was losing by quite a bit busted out the prime and completely turned the tables, as the harbinger in similar situations I still get hammered.

I've been playing the hell out of this mod. This is seriously my favorite mod of all time and I'll definitely be voting for it for Mod of the Year in 2013, but a few constructive criticisms, if you wouldn't mind then.

- Harbinger is a bit OP. You and pretty much sweep an entire platoon using Heavy Scorch and Singularity Rupture.

- Discounting the Grenade Launcher, Infiltrator Shepard feels a bit weaker than the Alliance Infiltrator. Maybe replacing the base Mantis with an Armor-Piercing Viper or a Widow, maybe? I would say Incisor, but I HATE that thing.

- The Geth Trooper definitely needs a boost. The GPR is really inaccurate (Cross-series, it was actually pretty accurate) and I know Pulse Grenades are EMPs, but they are a bit weak even in that field. Combine that with the Geth's low health, they're pretty easy target practice.

Just thought I'd post some ideas. :-)

In all honesty I haven't ever tested Harbinger personally.

Shepard probably will get a buff as we go, giving him better weapons. Widow or Black Widow, we'll decide later.

We'll see if we can change the Trooper without breaking balance.

An Armiger Legion Turian would make an interesting N7 Specialist for a future relese, yeah. Though I think it'd have the Jump Pack instead of the Jet Pack, probably for balancing reasons.
