Description

So in the time since Unification was first released in January of 2013, we've had at least a dozen people publicly accuse us of ripping models from BioWare's Mass Effect trilogy.

To date we have never included ripped art assets from any game in Mass Effect Unification, and we never will. All of our models were recreated by hand in Softimage XSI or Blender. The reason why the Geth Trooper unit model looks so close to the real thing is because the Mass Effect 3 model was extracted as a reference, but as a reference ONLY. No part of any of our models were created by BioWare.

Even if we wanted to use BioWare's unit models, we could not. Battlefront II's engine is too outdated to handle high poly unit models like we see in the Mass Effect trilogy.
The confusion is simple and understandable. If we're using the actual models as a reference and attempt to be as accurate as our skills will allow us, you can end up with a very similar end result. Case in point, here is a comparison of BioWare's Geth Spitfire and my Geth Spitfire model. The difference are unnoticeable from a distance, but very apparent to a trained eye up close.

We do not take offense when people initially think we stole the models, since it means we're doing the job of recreating them well enough. However, we do want it to be common knowledge that we do not ship Unification with ANY extracted art assets from the Mass Effect trilogy by BioWare.

Usually we recreate the weapon models only using Troodon's reference sheets. However the Spitfire had to be made an exception because he has not made one for the Spitfire.

tl;dr we don't steal any models and here's the new Spitfire.
