The M.A.R.T.I. Initiative is a mod for Portal 2 in which the main player assumes the role of Jessica as she works to escape from the rogue AI build specifically to enforce testing, the Mandatory Artificial Robotic Testing Intelligence, AKA MARTI for short.  Due to an unknown past and a searing hatred of the AI thought to only understand testing, this isn't going to be an easy task.

So, I havn't updated. For a while.

3 months actually.

Well, the reason for that is that I have been preoccupied with things other than modding, like school, friends, and playing APB: Reloaded (No hate? :c). I also just really havn't been wanting to map, like I've had no desire too. But I've regained the want to map, so I'm gonna try to map every now and again and atleast start making progress on the mod. It'll be slow and it'll take a long time, but don't hate on progress, no matter how slow.

I guess what I'm trying to say, is, well...

We're back.

So, yeah. After a little rough patch, we're getting back on track!

well you cant edit the thumbnails ( at the moment) in the extra menu , the mod replaces super 8 in the extra menu , so the thumbnail is just super 8's and we cant change it :/

ohh I see... now that you say it, it's true, the thumbnail is just the Super 8 one. Though I've been reading and everyone says that you should be able to load an image through a VTF file, but I cant success. I've got all the custom maps I downloaded there in the extras menu to play them, but all of them without any picture... and I hate it! Thanks anyway Russell! By the way, will you submit any custom map to the TWP contest? this is the last week for accepting submissions!! I hope to see a custom map from you there! Kind regards!

Yea sorry , if you try to overwrite the vpk's for portal 2 , it doesnt seem to work . So i don't see a way of replacing the thumbnail's until valve gives us the portal 2 src . . . and i won't be submitting anything to TWP , i didn't have any good ideas for it x3

I can help with that, I figured out how to add a new entry to the extras menu, with the help of reepblue's A Little Higher mappack. You have to edit the portal 2\portal2\scripts\extras.txt. At the bottom (or really any place in the file, it doesn't really matter) add a new entry in this format:

"pic" "path\to\your\VTF <256x256, automatically resizes, suggested that it is in vgui\extras\>

To make the picture show up, take a screenshot of your choice, download VTFEdit if you haven't already (trust me, if you are making a mod, you will have to download it eventually), open VTFEdit and choose File>Import and find your screenshot. A dialog will now open, and in the "Clamp" options, choose 256 in both lists. Then continue, and then go to File>Save and browse to the materials directory in whatever folder your mod is working in, then vgui (create if it doesn't exist) then extras, and save it there. Next, go to Tools>Create VMT File. Click on the options tab and then change Shader to UnlitGeneric. Just press Create, and then Close. Now File>Open, and find the VMT that you just created. Underneath $basetexture "path\to\your\VTF", paste this: $translucent 1
$vertexcolor 1
$vertexalpha 1
$ignorez 1
$additive 0
$no_fullbright 1
$SHADERSRGBREAD360 1

and Save. Now see if your mod shows up correctly alongside the Extras.
