The Lord of the Rings - Total War
Rome: Total War mod | Released Nov 8, 2007
This mod for Alexander Total War is set in the Lord of the Rings theme based on the works of Tolkien and Movies of Peter Jackson.
It features all new factions, units, menus, music and much more!
Custom heroes, movie likeness units.
In the 2.0 release there will be a campaign map and quite possibly custom buildings but not custom cities like Minas Tirith YET.
And a special for 1.1c is The Battle of the Last Alliance with the Elves, Numenoreans and Sauron's armies!

The Lord of the Rings: Total War Version 2.0 is here!
It has finally arrived people, the Lord of the Rings: Total War v2 Open Beta is available!
The Lord of the Rings: Total War or LotR: TW is a full conversion for the game Rome: Total War Alexander. It contains several factions spread among 4 different races Men, Elves, Orcs and Dwarves which each have a great variety of units and beasts such as the mighty Mumakill, Trolls and Nazgul.
The biggest new addition is ofcourse that you will be fighting good or evil on a completely new campaign map (credit for METW) this time, control the Fellowship in their quest to help Frodo and Sam reach Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring once and for all or send forth your legions to make the Dark Lord rise again. You decide the faith of Middle-earth!
This is the new installer containing several fixes.

I was trying to give you a compliment there buddy. I was pointing out that an actual team could have done this easily enough in a few months. Obviously it's a lot of hard work for you, but compared to having a full group from EA work on this instead of their BFME 2, it would be painfully easy. I would rather play this than play BMFE 2. In fact, I have more fun pretending that my units in StarCraft are orcs and elves, than playing BFME 2.
Not to act stupid or anything but when the Movie Edition download is done where do you unzip/install to?
This is looking very good. I always wondered if they were going to make a Middle Earth: Total War, but I guess this will work fine.
I am sure it had its hard moments, but would mods like these honestly take a lot of time? Basically the only thing you have to build from scratch are LOW resolution models and maybe custom buildings. Definetly the terrain could almost all be the same. I ask becuase I am trying to understand how only one person could make it, and why they didn't actually make a Middle Earth: Total War.

The campaign doesn't work, all you can do is the custom battles.

When you install movie-edition these are the things you must do:
Have an unmodded clean version of Rome TW
Patch it to 1.2, you can find it on our website
Install Part 1 and 2, do not install the official LotR TW 1.1c, all you need are those two parts.
