A mod about the Dark Ages of England. Vikings, Saxons and the Church fight for land and riches. The mod is based upon Mr. Cornwell's book Viking Series. It is a pseudo-historical mod and I took some liberties in order to make gameplay experience easier and more enjoyable.

- A new map of England, Scotland and Ireland, with accurate town and castle names.
- Factions of this era: Vikings(of course), Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria, The Church of England, Wales, Ireland, Picts, Scots...
- New bandits and mercenaries.
- New troops, based on soldiers of those times.
- Tons of new items. Weapons, armours, (a few) horses and LOTS of Axes!
- Gloomy textures, to fit the Dark Ages Theme.
- Unique Weapons for faction rulers(for the time being, only King Alfred has his own sword, but in a future version all will have their unique weapon)
- Lots of blood and Gore.
- New Music for the Game.
- Many tweaks, to make the game more enjoyable and
much more...

- The community of taleworlds, for the OSP packs of helmets and weapons
- Igorbb for his weapons
- GothicKnight, for his DarkAges OSP(I used and axe, a sword and a shield he made)
- Calradia in Darkness(the gloomy textures)
- Rath0s for his excellent OSP(norman items, saxon items and Viking Items)
- Runico, for many, many swords.
- Havoc, for the Havocafied Bows.
- Talak, for his OSP.
- SacredStoneHead, OSP also.
- Uthred for his Mucis and Castle project.
- Maw for his Shield

The mod is almost finished and it is entirely playable. Only a few things will be added/corrected/ altered in the neatr future (like the unique weapons for leaders), probably in the form of a patch. The mod is quite bug-free. There is nothing game breaking so far. I encountered only one "problem". Sometimes, some textures go missing. It does not crash or cause any trouble. The textures are there and sometimes, if you close the game and reopen it, you may see thse textures. That is a minor issue(it appears in only two items) will be fixed soon.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy the mod!

In the book there is no church kingdom and there is East Anglia kingdom that here is missing.
Is there a way to make the info pages look less dark?
I loved those 6 books and I would like to try your mod.

1)Well, the Church is a made-up faction(as some of the Bishops and padres in the books are some of my favourite characters) and this faction also justifies the use of Knight-type units with good cavalry.
2)What do you mean "Is there a way to make the info pages look less dark?".
3) I hope that you will download, play and like the mod!

i think what he means is that shop screens and menu's are a little to dark, try lightening them up a bit. :)

you should either;
a) only allow start from york
b) say you have to start from york in the summery, or in the game.

Well, in my PC I had no problem staring from any town(I tested it), but after I uploaded the mod many people said they had problems with other towns. And again, I tested it afterwards and it seems fine on my PC. But I will look into it for the next version.

Does this mod have something common with Brytenwalda mod?
It'd be great to have a mod in Viking Age, but with whole awesomeness of Brytenwalda.

No, I'm afraid not. This mod takes place about 2 centuries after Brytenwalda and also, it's the product of one man's effort. Brytenwalda is an awesome mod, but it is developed by a group of people that have greater modding skills and recources than I have.

But have you talked with Brytenwalda team about making an add-on, like it was with Imperium Romanum mod?
I assume that now it'd be quite complicated to port this mod into Brytenwalda, anyway you know, its module system and resources are free too use with credits.

I know, I play Brytenwalda all the time, such an awesome mod, but as you said it'd be quite complicated to port this mod into Brytenwalda.
