Hello all.
Some time ago I decided, that it's necessary to upgrade BFME2 system of walls. And radically.
So, I thought about it and decided that new walls must be free-constructed (as in bfme2), walkable and just great.
After many hours of works I have done it and you can see it on this screenshots:

(more screenshots you can see in the gallery)

Now I want to say about how it works.
Firstly, every faction will be able to build such walls (and Mordor too).
Secondly, there will be two types of walls: stockade and stone walls.
Stockade is very cheap and it's easy to build. Stone walls are very strong and powerful, but it's very expensive and big (however, you will have a really castle!).
So, what new walls can offer to us?

At first, I suggest to look on stockade:

You can modify a segment of stockade's wall with gate or ballista:

And it's all about stockade.

Go to the stone walls. System of walls construction is as in original game: we should build a hub, which can build walls to us:

You can upgrade stone walls with next improvements:

  • Stair - allows your units to walk on the walls.

  • Gate - allows your units to walk outside a castle.

  • Gun - set on wall segment and attack an enemy.

  • Additional gate - set on stairs in order to block enemy, which climbed on walls.

Also you can modify hubs with trebuchets or mortars:

And finally I want to show you two videos, which should teach you how to build a castle and how to destroy a castle. Pleasant viewing.

It will be in next version of the mod.
Last version of TLHotTA was released about 1.5 years ago, so that much of things that you see on the screen now are not in 0.31, which was released in 2012 ;)

I've read the books. At no point I've complained about the news units, but rather the canons for siege engines. That's not in the books. I love the other units Halbarad created. Both mods created non lore units and heroes by the way...

Hello, I like this mod very much. This is a excellent mod i like to play. the only things i don't like is the mithalond fraction and arnor one . you have given no good archer to the elves or had not made any heroes that are in book. I would like to bring back ithelin rangers back to Gondor

Hi.
Mithlond has good elite archers, do you forgot about them?
And, by the way, I wanted to create Mithlond exactly as military faction - with many of heavy infantry, true siege weapons (not ents) etc. And I did it such. So, Mithlond is unusual elvish faction with bias to men faction.

What about heroes? Well, I try to adding some heroes from Middle-Earth lore, but what heroes from lore I should add to, for example, Rhun or Mithlond?
I think, that my heroes are very interesting and usable, and it's enough.

I'll think about Ithilien rangers.

But I never praised my favourites everywhere! ^^ I know you add many awesome models, news ideas, news concepts. You can't disappoint me, I know Edain has flaws but I love it. Yes, it is in annoying when IA is sending waves of endless orcs, yes it can look like other mods. But the fact every mod has its letdowns and ups is part of the challenge.

I am going to be honest: I often check your work, it's always impressive. The detail, the textures, some ideas are well thought. Really!
And why should Edain go elsewhere than Middle-earth lore? I think that just breaks the immersion. You can make up units but if you start to include out of place stuff don't expect everybody to like it, even more troubling if you name it after Middle Earth's legendarium. But I never praised my favourites everywhere! ^^ I know you add many awesome models, news ideas, news concepts. You can't disappoint me, I know Edain has flaws but I love it. Okay, man, I don't want to argue more and I understand and respect your position.
But if someone will write something good about my mod and tell, that my mod better than Edain, you will not prove, that Edain is the best, okay?
Thanks for the detail comment.
