Half-Life 2 mod | Released Jan 15, 2006
The island is a singleplayer, first person shooter mod. There are no puzzles here, just pure, intense action. And who are your enemies? An army made up solely of zombies, particularly fast zombies, and their headcrabs. Where is this taking place? Any random island; the location is irrelevant.
This mod will be best suited to skilled action-oriented gamers. The mod is eight maps in length and includes many of the Source engine's advanced features and effects.
Work on The Island is complete and the mod is currently available for download. I would just like to apologise for the release date being two months later than originally planned.

Really I don't know why originated this stupid remake of mod Dead Sector for Half-Life 1. When this remake was created, I hoped, that original concept of mod Dead Sector will be kept...

Whats the problem? This was the funnest mod. It took some ingenuity on my half to blow the hell out of the fast Zombies and I dont remember being able to swim underwater in HL2. I liked it and if I had the patience to sit down and build a mod I sure would like some appreciation, especially since it was free!! At least I dont have to play HL1 for the 20th time or HL2 for the Tenth!! Dont stop building mods just because of some Neg feedback. I give it 10/10 just because you did it and did it to give people some pleasure. And my pleasure is to forget lifes worries for a time and kick some bad Alien Ass. finished it. i'm really quite disappointed by this mod; even though i don't speak a word of czech, i enjoyed the HL1 dead sector. the remake totally ruins why i liked it- focusing more on action and not on puzzle solving. worse, you didn't even use the best parts of the original DS!
this mod fails. it's fun for what it is (a daytime ravenholm) but it's generally a huge disappointment.
okay, i've played some of this and you know? i really wish you hadn't made it more action-oriented. it loses all the feel of loneliness that the original had. you added way too many enemies (although i do like the headcrab swarm by the first warehouses.)

I thought that it was a good mod for HL1, but I don't think I would have converted the maps almost exactly like they were in HL1. I imagine the time it took to do that, it would've been just as easy to do new updated ones, or at least improve a couple of things. Bottom line, I enjoyed Dead Sector for its gameplay. I enjoyed The Island for the enhanced graphics. However, somethings were lost in the translation and it didn't give it the same feel.
Damn, im stuck in the beginning, i can't get through the black tunnel, cause i got no friggin flashlight (not even a suit)

I think it would be cool to play a Island 2 mod, I enjoyed Island 1. Well if your not going to make an Island 2, I'll still look forward to other work you do. :)
What? Why all the negative buzz? I thought it was good fun. I thought the maps were fun and a bit challenging. I liked the low amount of ammo. I loved the field of tall grass full of head-humpers. It wasn't perfect, but it was a hell of a lot better than I could do.
4 Joe_Zombie - I'm maker of The Island 1. I think that most people don't like this kind of mods (I mean singleplayer action massacre) so I've got no plans about The Island 2.
