Set In the turbulent times of the Cold War in 1983, a robot invasion force has emerged and begun annihilating human life all around the world. The militant groups, factions and countries that were once hell bent on killing each other soon found themselves forging allegiances to counter the new threat. The game is set 9 months after the original invasion and the world is just a husk of what it once was....

A team orientated multiplayer deathmatch game based on the 2007 Orange Box Source engine. The unique selling point is that one side faces playing the game in an unforgiving ultra-realistic setting whilst the opposing team is playing in a stylized setting designed to wean in new audiences. The environments and GUI will look different dependent on which team's perspective is being played.

The theory to the unique selling point is that it allows very experienced players to play against new comers in a balanced match, as the new comers will have advantages over the other side through the use of the stylization as an aid.

Characters and environments will be modular. Meaning that resistance will be split into 4 classes (2 in this vertical slice) and each class will be tailored to their map. (i.e. The Assault character is an Israeli Steel Worker turned Militant and his environment, iv_steel, is a steel works/foundry). The environments however will be heavily altered by the invasion force for use by them.

Avid listeners of Podcast17 may be aware that The Invaders: Source has featured on three of their previous podcasts (eps 83, 85, 88). From the response by the guys over there we decided it was about time we came out of the shadows to release some information, along with a pre-release version of the mod, to make sense of any confusion they, and the public may be having about the mod and its background.

So the guys at Podcast17 have indeed played the mod and will be somewhat reviewing what they saw on this Saturday's episode, just hours before the mods official release. To add to this; i will be doing an interview on the show.

"Wait a minute... did you say hours?"

Yes. Yes i did. I promised that we would release the mod on Sunday July 4th. This is somewhat true, however as we the developers live in the UK you lucky Americans are going to technically get it early.

Yep, thats 7pm on Saturday night in eastern time. See you there.

Is this mod dead? I remember playing the beta and it had some minor problems that needed fixing, but i really like the concept, so if your still working on this keep up the good work

Seems like an awesome mod, but the beta release lacks in some regards, I hope you will work hard, because this mod is far away from being really awesome!

does this mod even work at this point? just plain out crashes for me when connecting to servers.

unless they resort the issues with the Source SDK 2007 or whatever version they base this on I can't play it.
