Did you get inspiration from Byzantine soldiers in this unit ? Because armor looks like Varangian armor. Shield kinda Byzantine also but weapons are kinda like Chinese ?

Well they could be Chinantines xD

I suppose they go with the "Gondorian motive" since Dorwinion was a province of Gondor for a long time, while at the same time having a more eastern motive.

Well that sword is from the Gondor CAH... will it be updated with Dorwinion assets?

Sometimes a PNG on Google Images can be too tempting not to use, I find...

Is that for Rise of Mordor? I think it's great that modders take inspiration from each other when designing units that don't have visual representations. Then we get some fan-made consistency. Especially in a setting like Middle-earth that needs a lot of respect regarding designs.

No, we both just ended up using the same image we found online. I hadn't realized it until I checked Enpremi's design just now.

Very unique! I have never seen any BFME mod implement Dorwinion at all. The models look great, as always.

I love that you are adding a unit from such a lesser known faction. It means they can be included without actually being an entirely separate force.

From what I read they sound like Middle-earth Italians, and I think that armour is certainly fitting.

Did you guys take inspiration from Chinese army/warriors for the spear? It greatly reminds me of the signature "snake spear" used by Zhang Fei.

Koei.wikia.com

This gives a very unique appearance for these new warriors indeed.

The spear is based on a Chinese weapon, yeah.

Good choice then Mathijs! You guys are indeed amazing, not just coping/pasting resources but making different assets for each unit.

This will greatly add to the diversity of units, and as I said before, I love that.

Keep up the good work, team.

So are they going to have two vairiants like an elite pikeman and elite swordsman, or are they just going to have mixed variants in each battalion, like a group of orcs?
Or will the banner carrier just have a sword?

Will these soldiers be combined in one horde like Iron Hills warriors or just able to switch weapons?

Right now it seems they will use their spear, with the sword being a model decoration.

I wonder what your inspiration was. They look marvelous. They remind me of Eastern Roman Empire, apart from the spear that looks definitely from the far East.

I fought these lads in a game as Mordor against a Brutal Erebor last night and won. However, I do look forward to playing these guys and seeing what they can do next time I log into Age of the Ring :-)
