It is speculated that he had a cameo appearance when Faramir enters Minas Tirith after retreating from the defence at Osgiliath, looking like this: Images2.wikia.nocookie.net
The Edain team took their Imrahil design from that, so it seems to be a plausible theory to me (especially considering that he just casually speaks up to Faramir & Gandalf and is not dressed like a regular soldier);-)
Correction: He is actually called Irolas and was originally inteded to replace both Beregond and Imrahil in the movie, as he also takes care of the wounded and unconscious Faramir. However, in the merchandise he is mostly referred to as Imrahil.
As far as merchandise, I have only seen Irolas being used for Imrahil on his Decipher card. Edain using that character doesn't increase plausibility to me. :p Imrahil was a 64-year old dark-haired Dunadan.
Well, in The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game (by Games Workshop) Irolas is identified as Imrahil too. That may not make the bulk of his merch incarnations, but at least it happens :D
So Irolas consists of at least 50% Imrahil (hey, this sounds like an ad. Maybe it even is? :-P), which in turn means that at least 50% of Imrahil showed up in the films, and that's precisely what I wanted to say originally :D
Yes, but Imrahil's appearance in the tabletop is based on the figurine of Irolas from the collectible figures ( Thumbs3.picclick.com ). At least that's what I've been told - if it's incorrect, consider this as another correction ;-9
I guess it's mostly the cape design that shows the inspiration. Add to that the style of his hair, the look of the breastplate and the caricature-ish style of Games Workshop and it doesn't seem that unlikely any more^^
Wait... What? The Hair isn't the same style let alone the color. Irolas's armor and cloak is just the Citadel Guard's outfit. I seriously don't see how you could think that Games Workshops design is inspired by that.
To be fair, I didn't make that claim up by myself - I read it on Ardapedia (a german and very extensive wiki about anything related to Middle Earth which is usually reliable) and sadly there's no source provided there. I guess I have to ask them in the respective discussion section xD
He is such a legend with that epic armor :D Great shield, great sword
I always wished that Prince Imrahil showed up in the films.

He has his own model in the tabletop game. Irolas doesn't exist in the game

That's Imrahil's figure. I don't see the similarity.
