The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war two decades earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Expeditionary Force against the German Empire, however with time the team will try and bring some more nations in, such as France and Austria-Hungary. This mod will focus or realism but keep the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable. Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instil fear into the enemy troops.
Showing off all the soldier models of the BEF faction in The Great War 1918 modification for Company of Heroes.
The slouch hat model and texture is by Klick. It is used with the permission of the BF1918 mod dev team.
The base body models are originally by Relic, modified to be more accurately shaped for WW1 uniforms.
The equipment models (pouches, tools, caps, etc..) are by Rataconfusca.
All the textures are by don_Durandal, except the faces which are from the original game (adding moustaches barely counts).
These models are all ingame as of version 1.2 of the mod, released in April 2014.
(alright, it's not ALL models. The Digger, the highlander and the Portuguese soldier have a corporal variant for the squad leader, which I haven't shown here)
:D love it
There are also some Easter eggs in the data files. And since we're close to Christmas: Moddb.com ;)
Nice to see the Canadian Expeditionary Force there; albeit an awkward way of using them.
What about New Zealand?
The New Zealand Expeditionary Force used the British service dress as uniform. As such they don't need an alternative reward skin. You can just use the default units to portray them.
Quick question, what will the bagpipers be playing?
i noticed that sounds come from mount and blade warband's napoleonic war expanison- im not shure but i think that they are playng "All the Blue Bonnets are O'Her", and others that i dont remember.
It's "Blue Bonnets o'er the Border" indeed. And no, none of the sounds are from Mount & Blade. That's a traditional Scottish bagpipe tune, and one historically used by Hgihland regiments in combat.
Im really happy you included Aussies in this mod, now I can unleash my Aussie patriot within me :D
How i get the CEP units??? and when is France and Austria coming out????
