The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war two decades earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Expeditionary Force against the German Empire, however with time the team will try and bring some more nations in, such as France and Austria-Hungary. This mod will focus or realism but keep the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable. Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instil fear into the enemy troops.
I knew it, haha.
For King and country!
(even though they be Candians and Highlanders)
Men! When You Step Out Across That Field I'm Going To Play My Bag Pipes, And A Very Awful Song. This Should Encourage You To Get To The Other Side Of The Field Fast By Running Away From My Awful Songs, Now When I See You People In Their Trench! I Will Stop Playing My Awful Song!
RUN DEMIT RUN! *Plays What Ever Horrible Song You Want*
*any of present radio hits* They will flee, like chased by the Devil himself.
I hope he plays Scotland the Brave!
Not going to happen, ever. I've got a personal loathing for that tune from hearing it too much, unless it's played along with the Black Bear.
Besides there are plenty of other far better tunes for going "over the top".
Hahaha I see. How about the Maple Leaf Forever?
And it would be really great if the pipers could play several tunes.
I couldn't agree more
hope in the future you would have far better mechanics to make the game more fast and fluid,it takes too long to finish a game specially in Annihilate mod its simply impossible not unless you want to make a lot of Tanks because they are the only potential building destroyers because Field Guns and Mortars are like turtles with their movespeed.
It's called trench warfare; stalemates were common. If you prefer dynamic, fast paced gameplay then I suggest you try the "Blitzkrieg" mod for CoH.
we are playing a game not some realism....you want realism then maybe you could go sit in front of your computer for 4 years re-enacting the trench warfare.........what I am talking about is there are very few troops that can destroy buildings so if you play a Annihilation games it will take you 1 to 2 hours to finish a game.
There's plenty of other games for you, if this doesn't suit you.
An old post, I know, but infuriating none the less.
should have larger squad sizes :P
NICE!!
back then: Over The Top!
Today: Y.O.L.O.
This sounds pretty euphemistically...
Nice image btw!
nice
Looks mad, that a new map?
The map itself isn't new, as it has appeared in a number of screenshots previously.
What's new is that it'll finally be playable.
Ha bagpipes
Once more unto the breach my friends, once more!
I'd like to hear **** O' North :P
can you add more factions like the french, Russians, and Americans. I know that this is hard but try your best, I'll wait.
All in due time.
For the king george the V !!
hm... wearing a kilt in WW1, wouldn't that had to be a bit chilly?
WW1 wasn't some sort of weird micro-climate where it rained constantly. Weather on the western front was the same continental climate as usual in that part of Europe. In summer it could even get very hot and dry.
The stereotypical images of waterlogged trenches represent a very narrow geographical and seasonal setting (autumn in Flanders).
Kilts were sometimes withdrawn in winter and replaced with the SD trousers. Note however that a kilt can be quite warm, and additionally dries faster than trousers.
I can verify that actually the kilt is very warm. Traps the air around your legs you see, like a blanket.
