The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war two decades earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Expeditionary Force against the German Empire, however with time the team will try and bring some more nations in, such as France and Austria-Hungary. This mod will focus or realism but keep the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable. Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instil fear into the enemy troops.
This is very impressive. Keep up the good work!
nice job indeed
It's amazing how beautiful these ugly machines are :p
Are armored cars going to be as useless in the field as it was in WW1? Because as it was they were rarely used in the trenches because they couldn't move through the muck and mire.
They wouldn't bother making armored cars if they were useless in mod. I'm sure there will be a place for them.
I have a slight feeling the battles in the mod won't be played the same way as the real war. Locked trenches for months doesn't sound like fun to me :p
And if the devs even was thinking about adding blitzkrieg type of damage, no one will ever try to charge, well knowing how it will end xD
Well it will play out like "the real war", but perhaps not exactly the idea you have of it. We are basing the mod strictly on the year 1918. That's the year when the Spring Offensive and the Hundred Days Offensive took place, both phases of breakthrough and quick movements that brought war out of the trenches and into the open fields beyond.
Armoured cars have limited manoeuvrability outside of roads and flat terrain. They have their use on certain maps and in specific conditions, but less so on others.
Is that "UMAD" I read there at the side...?
xD
HMAC
AJAX
its visible when zoomed in. Though I read AJAX as AJAM (which atleast for a swede) would sound like "I am" :p
"HMAC" for "His Majesty's Armoured Car". The first British armoured cars were brought by the Royal Naval Air Service, hence why it's named like a ship.
Awesome.
nice i really like it. in fact i wonder why the british switched from armored cars to the vickers\bren gun carrier. the daimler car i can understand as it was better armored, but the carrier always seemed pretty off for a front-line troop transport. one mortor\grenade and the whole crews dead.
glad to see it !
All hail the empire! :3
Rolls Royce made this, man can't imagine they made war machines, but there is a armored car with style!
