The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war two decades earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Expeditionary Force against the German Empire, however with time the team will try and bring some more nations in, such as France and Austria-Hungary. This mod will focus or realism but keep the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable. Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instil fear into the enemy troops.

Believe me, it’s one of the first things we tried implementing. The CoH moding is still at a loss on how to get LMGs to work this way though. We’d have done it by now if it was possible.

I believe Darkblade made a LMG tutorial and had the m249 fire only when in prone position.

tbh i dont think its a huge deal. It's not like it's impossible to fire an LMG on the move, it's just not ideal. I actually find it a bit of an immersion breaker when stuff like that is abstractly disallowed. I'm not sure what the best way to do it would be. I'm assuming units can have different accuracy? I only played a tiny bit of CoH. I suggest allow him to defend himself while standing but highly inaccurately. It'd just be dumb if he got jumped by some enemies close-up and had to painstakingly move to prone before he could even respond to them at all.

Oh yeah and, for those who will get the joke, Strictly 4 my D.I.G.G.A.Z

Because Canadian troops were outfitted in British uniforms by 1917, due to their prewar Canadian pattern model 1913 uniforms (which besides collar and buttons look like British SD anyways) being worn-out beyond repair and shipping from Canada being restricted.
In short, the default skins work just fine if you want to portray Canadians.

And I won’t let myself get dragged in an idiotic “who did what” ******* contest.

Glad you like it!

Just a note though: those are specifically Australians and not Anzacs as a whole. New Zealanders wore a different uniform on the Western Front (they were issued with British SD).

Hey guys! First off, you have no idea how long I've wanted this game to exist. I love COH and and a WWI fanatic. Not to be stingy but that Lewis seems kinda small but I may be wrong. Two questions; Where are you getting your historical facts from? I happen to be on the hunt for some good detailed information on the subject. and also, I know nothing about game design, have you tried making bipods and tripods terrain activated? IE. when shooting from a trench they connect, or prone? or rocks & debris? I've been a SAW gunner both in Afghan and Iraq and know LMGs can be fired from standing accurately but bipods are a key part of the weapon.(also have seen accounts of Lewis guns fired from the hip)

The question of our history sources is very hard to answer as it is spread over hundreds of different publications specialised on each subject. You’re going to have to ask something more specific. General history, battles, tactics, uniforms, organisation, equipment, vehicles, weapons, etc..? And for which army?
We can’t really make MG animation terrain specific due to engine limits. For instance when we introduced shooting prone for LMGs, they started doing it even from the bottom of trenches.

That's why I think the LMGs should be left the way they are, no silly DIVE TO PRONE IF YOU WANT TO SHOOT YOUR GUN.
