General
The Forgotten War, the Far Cry modification, is a teamwork-based, real time strategy first person shooter modification based on the Korean War. The mod will have a unique game play, based upon a commander commanding a group of soldiers and building buildings, vehicles, tanks, aircraft and artillery. A unique supply system will keep you in its grasp as you face the enemy, side to side with your brothers in arms.
Realism
The Forgotten War strives to make realism as closely accurate to real life as possible, while steel keeping game play fun and enjoying. The general for each team will be able to assign ten (10) squads, which have sub-commanders that each have a unique set of commands and voice commands allowing the possibilities to be just as realistic as real life. A unique physics model allows the destruction of bridges, guard towers, roadblocks and buildings.
Squad
As mentioned above, every squad will have a sub-commander (sergeant) who will issue real-time commands such as ‘follow me’, ‘covering fire’ etc. The squad will also show up on your map so that you're not separated from them (of course you have to be within a considerable amount of distance from them). A good sergeant will move his squad in cover and command the squad in combat as a group.
Teamwork
As in all wars, teamwork is the key to victory in The Forgotten War. The commander can not see the battlefield like the usual RTS view, instead, when he enters his bunker/helicopter he must actually either physically transport him self to the area he wishes to place buildings, drop supplies, or use his platoons to help with the construction (request a drop, etc).
Vehicles
TFW will include a large amount of fully operable vehicles, from scout cars and halftracks to T-34s and MiG-15s. These vehicles will act as heavy support for infantry and are literally the gods of battle. The commander will build them in his base, and they are dependable on supplies.

well looks very exceptional
but i apologize for being unable to help in such a great endeavor, i cannot program, script, map, draw, model, animate or anything, lol
but i do make an excepptional tester ;-)
and i really like your homepage
and i would like to point out its the M1 carbine, the m1a1 was folding stock, and they used the m2 carbine in korea, it was full auto and had 30 rounds
this looks sweet!, iam watching this one, and i loved the farcry demo, it had good physics, not hl2, but thats never coming out
Good idea to use the Far Cry engine.
Hey Darkcyde,
Actually, we plan to have it launch before you launch TFW, i.e. a batch file, or a mini-launcher program programmed in C++.
Thank you for watching the modification, you won't be disappointed, I'm going to update the gallery in about five minutes.
Thanks,
