General The Forgotten War, the Far Cry modification, is a teamwork-based, real time strategy first person shooter modification based on the Korean War. The mod will have a unique game play, based upon a commander commanding a group of soldiers and building buildings, vehicles, tanks, aircraft and artillery. A unique supply system will keep you in its grasp as you face the enemy, side to side with your brothers in arms. Realism The Forgotten War strives to make realism as closely accurate to real life as possible, while steel keeping game play fun and enjoying. The general for each team will be able to assign ten (10) squads, which have sub-commanders that each have a unique set of commands and voice commands allowing the possibilities to be just as realistic as real life. A unique physics model allows the destruction of bridges, guard towers, roadblocks and buildings. With Far Cry’s new “Modification” section going live, they decided to take a moment with the TFW team for a full interview, media, and videos.

Along with the new interview came new content, however, this was merely a sample of what’s to come on the website. Currently the Tank Code, and Jet Code are both done, now we are going to move on to the Helicopter Code. You can be expecting a lot of new renders of vehicles and weapons pretty soon, a long with some updates on “The Unsan Engagement”, and yet more songs from STA.

They said the SDK would be available in 2 weeks, 6 weeks ago. Sound familiar? It should to the people who been around. I was reading that UBI kept a game called Renegade and some other game waiting for a year for the tools. The game I mod for said they would patch the game. A year later the mod community finds out the game guys made an xbox version of the game. Another 9 months later and the patch is released. It is trash and breaks the game for everyone. Then, get this, another 6 to 9 months go by and it comes out they are coding a new engine, there will be no patch.

With the Half Life debacle, the entire moddb community switching to HL2, then the game being delayed until who knows when, people ought to know that when game developers say that something is coming, that is marketspeak for, you will never see it, or by the time you see it, hell will have frozen over and the next generation of games will be available.

If you want to spend your time wisely, don't mod for a game unless the tools are available. Otherwise you will waste time and energy waiting for something that will probably never be released. I have everything for my mod idea. After waiting for 2 years or more, I hardly care. Time passing has sucked all the excitement out of it. Now it would be only work.

Argh! Game developers. ;)
