Really nice model! I'm following your mod with great interest even though I'm not really a fan of the Halo series. But Halo + Arma3 seems like a great combo.

On an unrelated topic, why do game artists (the ones who created the Marine for the Halo games) choose to disregard common sense when they design things? Why would you put Iron Man armor around the lower part of the leg while leaving the groin and the thigh completely unprotected, areas that contain major blood vessels (and other body parts that really need to be protected).

funny you say that as i just had a conversation today with somebody on the same topic. same goes for equipment. no ammo pouches on the front for quick access, a lot of the gear doesnt make sense at all but then i just have to remind myself its just a game :( sadly... but i agree, wish there was more sense in some of the games nowadays.

Mobility. They don't want to put too much of a burden on their infantry units when moving in combat. Also, when crouched, the thighs are clearly protected by the lower leg plates and in the latest Halo games, the thighs receive a bit of side protection as well, but, overall, you DO NOT WANT to put heavy armor on your thigh and crotch.

First off, the obvious problem - your balls will be squeezed. (Lol)
Second, the thigh plates will have serious problems to slide past the lower stomach plates, and there is no way to negotiate smaller armor there. A shot in the thighs can be endured, but a shot in the stomach is far more dangerous.

Yeah but then again why put armor on the legs at all? The only use i can think for lower leg armor is to stop anything sharp from going trought your leg while you crouch and crawl around aswell as add more comfort since expecially urban battlefields have all kinds of things that could hurt you like a lot of glass, sharp pieces of metal like shrapnel & ricochet or building materials / rubble lying around on he ground.

As for the legs, I always assume it has to do with mobility. Though for the pouches, they finally addressed that in Reach for the Army troopers. . Well, at least some of them.

I could very much be wrong here but the optimum firing position is lying down? Therefore forward leg armor is pointless. Secondly This would be a war where many men would die, it would be too expensive to provide full armor protection to everyone. Wouldn't webbing be a separate part of a soldiers gear as opposed to being integrated with armor?
