So I have been working on TCJT once again. I got several things done over thanksgiving week and this is what i'v done:
New Orleans, United States (South), 10/30/09 (Temporary), 8:21pm The survivors have just escaped from a collapsing bridge and have made it safely to a rescue helicopter that will take them to a safe haven in New Orleans to protect them and other survivors from the Infection. Howver the helicopter pilot has once again become infected due to the survivors being carriers of the infection. After the crash they find themselves in an infected pocket of New Orleans, which was a result of several failed attempts by CEDA to find a cure to the infection. Together they need each other. Together the must find safety, and together they are alone... Or are they? The 4 survivors stumble upon messages left behind by a survivor who calls himself Crazy Jay. He tells the survivors that he will give them answers and will ultimately lead them to safety... And possibly more.
The Crazy Jay Trials is an attempt to make a campaign that gives a different feel for L4D2 mixed with what L4D2 already is. Also to give a few things that L4D2 lacks.... more story and more explanation, at least for the areas that the survivors will be visiting, while still staying within the story of L4D2 as if it were an expansion or DLC.
Another goal that "The Crazy Jay Trials" will try to achieve is to not make a campaign where you just fire in a general direction and hope to reach the end of the level but instead have to look around and explore a bit and even add a bit of puzzle and thinking and maybe a little bit of firing in the general direction hoping to accomplish something.
But ultimately "The Crazy Jay Trials" is trying to give the community a new and fun campaign to play with.
I will be trying to do as much as possible within the next 5 weeks since school is sadly getting closer and closer. I expect to finish at least the basic geometry of the 3rd map of the campaign by the time school comes back, but I'm not making any promises.
The map will start off in the sunset and will end up at the end of the night.
I will try to give little demos of the campaign along the goals that I am trying to accomplish.
Now I don't expect this to be the next "I Hate Mountains" but I will try my best
This is the first map that I am dedicated to (However TF2, L4D2, and Lead and Gold is kind of distracting).
The Campaign is still early in development
-2D skybox (Soon to be 3D)
-At least half of the design (Includes props, decals, overlays, lighting, music, sounds, etc.)
To Do list:
-Safe room (as in map change)
Custom Stuff such as safe room writings and messages from Crazy Jay
-Possible Forest Village
The first map isn't that great IMO and it's kind of short and almost doesn't make sense but it's too late to change anything so i'm just gonna try to make it as good as I can.
Yes this is my first real map so don't expect too much and when I begin to show off my work some helpful criticism and helpful tips would be great.
No Images as of yet but i'll try to get some ASAP, also the header and stuff like that is only temporary.
UPDATE 7/13/2010 12:47:
Added 3 Beta images
We gather here today to mourn the loss of our good old friend, Crazy Jay.
No matter how crazy he was, he was willing to help the survivors in their non-cannon adventure.
As of the 11th of July, the Crazy Jay trials has been removed for my computer due to a ill timed virus that threatened my computer. After backing up most of crap and restoring my computer, I realized that my good friend "thecrazyjaytrials_cedacenter" was forgotten in D:\Steam\Steamapps\Superw0rri0\SourceSDK\Left4Dead2\Maps\thecrazyjaytrials\ (or whatever the actual directory was) and was sadly removed from existence.
I hereby declare that the Crazy Jay Trials is officially...... *sob*... dead.
I would like to thank those who have followed this mod.
However our dearest friend has left a legacy, a legacy of the name Crazy Jay, and his name will be used in my future mods. Whatever these mods may be, may the name Crazy Jay live on!
