Several sites featured our news article as thousands of Internet goers shared and retweeted. Reactions were mixed of course. For every person saying that the GoldSource engine still held up today, another would ask "What's the point?"

We have voiced our opinions on the GoldSource engine before in our Q&A videos. It's a part of gaming history, it's classic, it's clunky, it's frustrating, it's... lovable. The sheer number of projects both long running and new on this now 16 year old engine just goes to show that several people still have a special place in their heart for what is essentially a finely mangled Quake engine. :D

We don't expect to get anywhere near as many votes as last year, but we appreciate all the support we get from our followers and if you feel we're still worthy.

For old times sake, here are some of the most popular images from 2014.

I did this comment on your video to :-). You can just imagine the sequal using the HL 2/3 Source Engine.. "THE CORE: Ashes".. it could be a "City2" escapee/s (could make it 2player coop) who stumbles into Black Mesa somehow and needs to escape the facility before the remaining Xen Army finds you, weapons and ammo are scarce (weapon and ammo pickups stay during MP but can only be pickes up once). In this sequal the Black Mesa Facility is your sandbox, journey through the whole facility to find your way out, even use the remaining portal technology to advance greater distances, but The Core is offline, an optional objective "Restart The Core" and return full power to the facility, then run for your life. You could even bring back Shepherd as the main character and get him to say "Oh sh** not this hell hole again" when you stumble into the lost facility.

One thing we don't have is an animator. There are a lot of new models being used with their own animations but we aren't having any new animations made specifically for the mod.
