Set in both the heart and outside of City 17, "The Citizen Returns" contains the final chapters of our citizen's story, as well as an updated version of Part II. The story takes place shortly after a failed assassination attempt on Dr. Breen leads to the first ever use of the Overwatch Broadcast system by The Resistance, represented by former garage owner Larry Soderstrom. The Combine forces decide to capture him and try to use his public repentance and execution as a means to appease the emergent rebellion. The Citizens of City 17 however have other ideas in mind. Larry is now a symbol for the rebellion and a key asset in a bigger plot to deal a fatal blow to the Combine and its grip on humankind...
Description
The Citizen story is finally complete! This mod replaces The Citizen Part II as the sequel to 2008's The Citizen mod, and includes the maps of Part II with some improvements. Keep in mind that this mod has been "resurrected" and worked on for the past three months or so, after more than three years were it was actually a dead project. Don't forget to enable subtitles if you need them. Enjoy!

Keep in mind V1 is more of a public beta, it has it's moments I guess but hopefully V2 will be way better. As you probably know all too well these things take massive amounts of time. :)
Kasperg make some mods like that but place in city 17 during the uprising like in half life 2 anticitizen one. your three mods citizen are amazing you are so good! Please make some more mods! :) :)

Yes. Part II is obsolete now.
I'm not sure "The Citizen" works anymore though after all these years and Source Engine updates :(
The Citizen works :) I played it last month!
I tried playing it and the NPCs just ignore the player making it impossible to progress past the first little bit. :( Bummed out because I just remember about it and was really excited to play it again. At least I can play the sequel though.
Do you have some plans to add "The Citizen" into "Returns" - even with the old Source Engine and no update? Would be awesome to have the whole story in one part!!!
The old Source engine is gone (AppID 215). The Citizen can only be played by tweaking the gameinfo.txt file and having it run in other engine versions. How "playable" it becomes is subject for debate. I think it's unplayable.
Recompiling the maps might be possible, but it's not high on our list when it comes to future mapping plans.

Yes. This mod actually replaces Part II entirely and begins with those maps.

I knew I was going to regret installing this.
Not because it's bad, oh no, definitely not because of that. This is one of the greatest mods I've ever played. Over six years since I played that first part. Six years I've waited for it to finally be over, knowing I would regret it once it was. And I do regret it. A lot. The reason why, however, is very hard for me to say. Maybe it's because I actually gave a **** about some of the characters presented. Maybe it's because I know I won't find another Half Life side story as good as this again. One way or another, I can say The Citizen has been an amazing experience from start to Finish, and I wish the developers the best of luck in whatever future projects they hope to work on. Rant over.
P.S. Thank you for not being jackasses who start something amazing and then never finishes it. You made three Half Life games.(Even if this still technically counts as the second one.) Amazing.
