"THAT" is a single player source mod that runs on the 2007 SDK engine. It is more of an art installation than it is an actual game, it is my also one of my personal endeavors to push the "games as art" movement which I strongly believe in. The game features abstract surreal scenery and doesn't really contain an objective, it is more of a game to relax to and explore. The game is set in a grid of 9 maps, starting in the center (5th map). You can travel between the maps at your own leisure. I hope you enjoy it and that it encourages game designers to think outside the box when it comes to creating games.

So I enjoyed working on "THAT" so much, I had to push the concept further.
I started using the UNITY engine this time, I feel it gives me a lot more creative liberty since I can actually get models to work in there, as opposed to working with nothing but blocky brushes.
The abstract look will not only carry over but it will evolve, breathing life to an even more intense experience.

You can follow development on the blog:

I'm in the process of getting a kickstarter page for it ready, I will announce it's launch on the blog.

Now that the mod has been authorized I can't wait what you guys have to say about the game! If there's anything you would like me to include in a future...

The soundtrack is included as mp3 files, you'll find them in the steam directory for the game. It's by a musician call Philip Glass for the film "Koyaanisqatsi". If you have ever seen the film, you'll probably see why it was used for the game ;)

The first thing I thought when I recognized the music was "uh oh". This CAN'T POSSIBLY be legal. The game is basically bundling copyrighted tracks as mentioned from Koy<tab> by Phillip Glass. Unless he's paid to licence that music for this game, distributing it is copyright infringement, and since the game is free, I'm guessing it's pretty unlikely he licensed it.

I haven't actually played the game yet, but by looking at the images of the game, I can tell that the view will be pretty sweet. The appearance kinda reminds me of LSD: Dream Emulator... Looks like an awesoem game, though!

This was a trippy and fantastic experience. I found it alluring and fascinating. Once I discovered the pattern with the cubes, my wandering became hunting, and the real adventure began!

What do the cubes do, if I may ask?

Thought I was the only one who had noticed the similarity between game music (notably the Portal 2 OST) and Philip Glass. Too long since I heard "Koyaanisqatsi", and it works well with this mod. Thank you.

This was a lovely experience, glad I came back to it after a quick first look and explored all the spaces + found the cubes. Hoped I'd be able to get back on top of the centre spiral afterwards!

The music seemed to have echos of the soundtrack to Ink, have you seen it? Imdb.com

You should know that I think it's really stupid to give games, that are subjective experiences an objective score so I rather would like to only write this review and not give it a score, but let's start anyway shall we? The first thing that you will notice when you start the game, are the amazing aesthetics. The colors, the shapes and the music merge together and create an amazing, unique experience. Each map has its own theme like forest, city and surrealism(?). So the mod is nicely varied. I…
