Team Fortress v1.0
Apr 15, 2008 Full Version 0 commentsThe VERY FIRST public release of Team Fortress (August 1996)! Includes source code. (Infact it's all there is)
Team Fortress is a revolutionary class-based mod supporting from 2 to 4 teams in various gameplay modes of capture the flag, capture and hold, and hunted. I will try to fill this profile with as much OFFICIAL TF (no variants/mods) files I can fill.

a rare one :) Historical version 1.3, released on Halloween 1996.
This is the Team Fortress 2.8 release, released 5/23/1998
This is the released source code for the 2.5 version of Team Fortress.
This is Team Fortress, version 2.5, released on 6/13/1997.
Highest Rated (5 agree) 10/10
What else is there to say. It was 1997 and I met a buddy in highschool who introduced me to this game. The rest is history. Never before had I encountered a first person shooter game with class based team play. You were always fearful of crossing the bridge in 2fort5 because of elite snipers. As a spy you actually disguised as an enemy and could feign death. Enemies would hide in the shadows and wait for ambush. Grenades galore where available for each class. This is one of the best mods ever created…

Are there any servers still running?
you have to put the Fortress directory in the Quake dir(Quake\Fortress), now start Quake with the parameters: -game Fortress
this may sound like a noob question but how do you launch this mod?
I wanna play it again. :(
TF for Quake. Good times.
This is the absolute original, the first - we will try and deck out this profile so you can see it in all its glory
Yeah, TF had its start in Quakeworld. :)
its pretty weird once you follow valves history
really they always used the quake engine in their games
they started with this mod (Team Fortress) on the quake engine
Half life is a modified Quake 2 engine in which many other games rooted from this engine
over the years of making HL and HL2 it was so modified it became another engine of its own
~QUOTE~Source distantly originates from the GoldSrc engine, itself a heavily modified version of John D. Carmack's original Quake engine
Actually HL was Quake based, and Valve didn't make this mod. They just assimilated the creators and IP, exactly like they did with CS and DOD later on.
