Report RSS Windows re-release delayed — Mac/Linux versions on the way too!

It's been more than a month since the first release of the modification – which received mixed reviews upon release – was out. The re-edited modification is still currently being worked-on in order to meet good quality standards and finally match with the expectations of all fans of Return to Castle Wolfenstein that have been waiting for this modification. Thanks to the important amount of feedback after release, the modification is on the good way for its re-release.

It's been more than a month since the first release of the modification – which received mixed reviews upon release – was out. The re-edited modification is still currently being worked-on in order to meet good quality standards and finally match with the expectations of all fans of Return to Castle Wolfenstein that have been waiting for it. Thanks to the important amount of feedback after release, the modification is on the good way for its re-release... a little bit later than originally expected however.

» Re-release delayed → TBD

Effectively, the modification's re-release was originally scheduled for February 20 but due to the recent engine re-conversion (iortcwid Tech 3) and the intention of not rushing things once again, the plan has been revised. The modification will finally re-release later this Spring. The engine re-conversion has made a big mess in the files and to how the executable runs so (less than) a month is more than needed in order to check if everything's running well. But there is also another reason for such a delay.

» Mac and Linux versions on the way

In fact, the modification's engine re-conversion, from iortcw, back to the original game's engine, id Tech 3, made the work the work on the Mac and Linux versions much easier. That's some good news I wanted to share with you today as I'm working on these versions.

» Going on with something new

I'm making my very best to release what I can call a final version (meaning no patches in the future) – I'm very attentive to feedback in order to finally fully and properly release this modification in order to finally part ways with it – so I can go on with something new. It would seem like nothing but I wrote the script of The Dark Army back in 2011 (five years ago, already) while I was mapping on Return to Castle Wolfenstein's multiplayer component – the development itself was started in sometime in 2013, almost three years ago: it's undeniable to me that this project became a part of my life. For me, it has been an initiatory journey: expect more/better quality of execution in future projects.

Glad to see you back with news! I wish you all the best and most importantly as little frustration as possible during the next month.
I'll be patiently waiting over here :)

Thank-you @KeMoN — glad to see you understand and that people take-it easy; one more month is important for me, as I don't want to rush things.

The iortcw engine is the cause of many bugs/glitches players had to face when this modification was released for the first time, last December. Even if the latest version (1.42d) of this engine fixes a lot of bugs from the previous one (1.42b), which was originally being used for this modification, it also gives birth to more occasional bugs/glitches.

This engine is very nice and has a lot of potential, however if I want this modification to be has much stable as possible for all players, I have no other choice but to part ways with it, at least for the moment. I know this is sad but such a sacrifice is necessary for the stability of the modification. However, don't worry: it won't have a big impact on the modification's look.

If someday the iortcw engine is completed and/or rid of bugs/glitches, probably I'll upload a patch for this modification in order to upgrade the engine. But for the moment, as it is, my modification doesn't support this engine much in the end. I hope you understand-it.

Thanks for your support mate.

The Dark Army: Uprising's re-release has been recently re-delayed. It was announced on social networks. The re-delay is not very important and I can confirm an April re-release with Beta testing just before. Please wait a little longer. The modification is currently being re-edited and will be able to be installed very simply this time. Remember you'll now need the original Return to Castle Wolfenstein game in order to play it since I don't want any copyright issues with the respective owners of the Wolfenstein franchise (I have already been warned and contacted a few times– this project has done a lot of noise in three years). Hope you'll enjoy the re-edition. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Since I want this re-release to be absolutely flawless, I re-delayed it. Again, I'm truly sorry. Wait for an announcement soon concerning the new re-release date. The wait is long I know but it will be worth it. Thanks for your understanding.
