Welcome to The Cosmic Mystery Serial! Season 1: The Stone Orb Episode 1: Twin Brothers' Mine This mod is the first installment of a series I plan to me working on over a decent amount of time. Please enjoy it and do let me know if there is anything wrong with it. In the beginning of the mod, you'll receive a note that is written by a character named, Alexander Bullit. This note will appear in the beginning of each story, but the character you play as will change. In this story, you will play as Rolando Barnes as you delve deep into the Twin Brothers' Mine Shaft on a dare, but will return with a certain treasure. Think carefully about certain situations, and remember that death is not as permanent as you'd think.

Description

Hey guys and girls. This is the almost-complete version of the mod I've promised you. I just need some brave beta testers to go in and tell me what can be done better. That's where you guys come in. I need your feedback on this mod. Finally, there is one bug that I do not know how to fix. For me, I'm not sure if the same is true for you, but for me, maps will randomly crash upon loading. I need some help with this, and I hope you guys can provide it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it.

I wish I could, but I need someone to translate. I don't fully trust Google Translate.

a wonderful start! one of the most atmospheric, creepy and well designed gameplay and mapping i've seen in a while. it was a long time ago when i was so on the edge from original amnesia monsters too. resources were well managed, the part where you had to carry the torch around was awesome. the whole thing was kinda something special you don't see very often, the lore scattered around was nice too! the bugs and flaws i encountered, have to be mentioned though:

- Please put autosaves to start of the levels, even that permadeath is a thing here. i was about to unlock the padlock in the equipment storage when the grunt was around and suddenly a child popped up, i blacked out to the floor and was killed and my game also crashed. i had to start all over again and i was very carefully exploring and got frustrated by this. the second time i was saving manually very often..
- There is an empty note next to the first carryable torch.
- I couldn't understand a single thing from the phonograph recording due to the machine sounds in the first level. Also let the player go back to the first level so they can find the hidden key on the frame on the first time playing if they're reading the notes.
- In the temple level's first room the too many particles gave a significant FPS drop, that did not happen anywhere else in the mod.
- The event with the miner was too scripted and i barely had time to get away and almost got killed.

All in all, it's a very good entry. I give it a 9.5/10 just because of the smaller flaws. I expect a continuation soon :D

Also additionally, please re-check the amount of custom content you included, because i think many of them are unused, the mod is too huge for its length!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for indicating those bugs. I'll get to work on them as soon as possible, and place a download up once the bugs are taken care of. As far as the size is concerned, my problem is that I don't want to suddenly start deleting things to reduce the size, and then all of the sudden, I'm missing a bunch of objects and textures. By keeping all of the custom textures and objects in the file, it minimizes the risks of missing textures.

yes but as far as i've seen you're keeping many assets from even the original dark descent, which is really a problem (they're already in the game), and many unused amfp ones, for example you don't use any of the pig models, and a lot more. when you start working on an episode, start gathering the assets into a folder that you already placed in the map, that's how most of us are doing it.

Okay then, I'll go through and try to remove things I know aren't being used. It'll shorten the size a bit (pun intended), but I'll probably use your method next time I make a mod.
