Tactical Fleet Simulator 3G Mod Description:
Tactical Fleet Simulator (TFS) is a complex, total overhaul of Homeworld2 with the objective of transforming the game into a tactics-oriented combat simulator. The large selection of units and the high attrition rates combatants suffer greatly enhances the tactical level of gameplay while still retaining real-time strategy elements. Recurring themes are quasi-modern air and naval doctrines modified for three-dimensional movement, complete with a proper unit classification scheme. Grand strategy plays a significant role, with the emphasize on battlefield adaptability, simulated by the large amount of available assets with similar albeit different roles which requires one to be familiarized with specific acronyms and unit types to maintain flexibility. All of this simulates a more immersing, realistic, adrenaline-soaked game experience that the stock version of Homeworld2 failed to deliver. TFS provides Homeworld2 with a relatively balanced, stable and much desired militaristic look and feel.
TFS Features:
The provision of new, more complex strategies and tactics.
Split-second decisions of what units to build and when to deploy.
Exhausting battles add to the fatigue of simulated combat.
New ships, weapon systems, abilities and attack behaviors.
Dynamic weapon systems, unit mobility and far more realistic three-dimensional movement.
A vast and complex unit selection, each with differing or a slight variance in their role.
New game modes and game options prolong the entertainment factor.
More realistic weapon damage relative to ship armor/health.

Neo-Taiidani Imperial State
(Concept design and models by Battlecry) The Neo-Imperial Taiidan State has emerged from the Vaygr Federation as a semi-autonomous faction after the great war. Among their priorities is the reconstruction of their interstellar empire on a new basis. While nominally still a faction of the greater Vaygr federation, the new Imperial state is moving to
secure full autonomy and dissolve the Vaygr into a loose confederation of spacefaring civilizations. Among its first acts was the establishment of a vast spacecraft and weapon design and production agency enabling the development and mass production of craft more advanced than the standard Vaygr combat craft. The new Taiidan empire has taken advantage of various Vaygr technologies such as pulse-laser cannons and advanced missiles, further refining them to their specifications resulting in advanced micro-missile technology and improved traditional Taiidani weapon systems as mass drivers.
Caylian Federation
(Ship design and models by Flogger23m) The Caylian are a spacefaring civilization from the outer rim with technology comparable to standard Hiigaran and Vaygr ships. Caylian doctrine places an emphasis on high-powered plasma-based weaponry and agile frigates.

I like this mod for individual upgrades all bigger ships can get.
One thing I dont like much is that there are too many kinds of fighters, I mean too many upgrades fot that class.
Anyway good job and keep working on this mod ;)
I was thinking the inverse was true ... perhaps I should thin out the capital ship population (five Higiaran Destroyers, for example) and increase the variants of available fighters?
i think it is a good thing to have many varieties of ships
it gives more flexibility and replay potential to the mod
the more versions the better

Hello this is my first post. I don't know if this issue has been raised before, but I cannot load any map either in campaign or skirmish. The loading stops at 'Universe'. If the answer is obvious I'm sorry, but please do answer.
Oh and I am using a Mac.
Blessings,
Mordechai
Are you using the Macintosh-compatible version? It might also be a video-card related issue. If you could, can you let us know what your system specifications are and which version of the mod you are trying to run?
Why is it that the game always crashes while loading if i am using the overidebigfile command after decompiling the big file? What is wrong with the contents? Can this be fixed?
Are you referring to the BF-16B Strategic Bomber or the BF-16C Tactical Bomber? In any case, both work fine for everyone else. The game will crash when a ship uses a certain weapon if either the weapon file does not exist, was modified with a syntax error or the weaponfire effect in the script folder does not exist. This would only be an issue if you modified the game files or extracted them and you're running the mod using the -overridebigfile command line.
Your system specs should be more than adequate to run TFS. If all else fails, try experimenting with older driver versions for your video card.
I'm referring to the BF-16C Heavy Bomber. In this case, the targets are Vagyr DDG-92 or CV-101. The bombers have been upgraded with the SRR (I think) munitions and armour.
My 1.1 game is completely unmodified, and only has the TFSv2.5.big file in the Data folder besides the vanilla game stuff. I also have a savegame in which this particular event can be reproduced. Bombers are starting their run, and shortly afterwards they fire and the game crashes to desktop.
I'm running on 1280x1024, but I've tried 1024x768, lowering effects, geometry detail, scaling and shadows, but the problem persists.
I'm not using the "-overridebigfile" string either. The shortcut path is simply "D:\Games\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod TFSv2.5.big"
I tested the BF-16C with upgraded SRR-8 rockets against a CV-101 Vaygr carrier, and they worked fine without any issues. The only thing I can suggest is trying to re-install TFS or Homeworld2 altogether, make sure DXdiag reports everything is working fine and experiment with different Nvidia drivers (the newer Nvidia drivers have many issues with older OpenGL games like Homeworld2).
I'm doing some testing with version 2.5.2 now. The game no longer crashes when heavy bombers attack capital ships, but it crashed once for some reason when one of my destroyers was fighting a couple of Vagyr frigates.
I read around about Homeworld2 problems with newer videocards and tuned some settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I resumed my 2.5.2 game and experienced no further classes (my DDI-82 saw a lot of action). My tweaking may or may not have fixed it.
I'm gonna try 2.5.5 later and see if heavy bombers work correctly now. I'll post the results, and the options I changed in the control panel if it solves the problem.
