Tactical Fleet Simulator 3G Mod Description:
Tactical Fleet Simulator (TFS) is a total overhaul of Homeworld2 with the objective of transforming the game into a tactics-oriented combat simulator. Adaptability is required to survive: the large selection of units and high attrition rates combatants requires one to be familiar with the units, their strengths and weaknesses. This enhances the tactical level of gameplay while still retaining real-time strategy elements. Recurring themes are quasi-modern air and naval doctrines modified for three-dimensional movement, complete with a proper unit classification scheme. Grand strategy plays a significant role, with the emphasize on battlefield adaptability, simulated by the large amount of available assets with similar albeit different roles which requires one to be familiarized with specific acronyms and unit types to maintain flexibility. All of this simulates a more immersing, realistic, adrenaline-soaked game experience that the stock version of Homeworld2 failed to deliver. TFS provides Homeworld2 with a relatively balanced, stable and much desired militaristic look and feel.

TFS Features:
The provision of new, more complex strategies and tactics.
Split-second decisions of what units to build and when to deploy.
Exhausting battles add to the fatigue of simulated combat.
New ships, weapon systems, abilities and attack behaviors.
Dynamic weapon systems, unit mobility and far more realistic three-dimensional movement.
A vast and complex unit selection, each with differing or a slight variance in their role.
New game modes and game options prolong the entertainment factor.
More realistic weapon damage relative to ship armor/health.

Tunngle, the free VPN (Virtual Private Network) client, has created a dedicated network for TFS. The network includes a game lobby and enables users to host and join games on the VPN without having to deal with myriad of port-forwarding issues associated with hosting games on Gamespy.

We will be hosting TFS v2.8.2 games on Tunngle and invite all members of the Homeworld2 and TFS community to visit and play with us.

Tunngle can be downloaded from the following link:

When i first heard about this mod, i didn't have much hope for it (seeing as how the basic Homeworld 2 laughed maniacally at how weak your fighters/bombers are.) and upon first look, It seemed to complicate the mess of wondering what ship to build. But after testing it out for one game, i was convinced that this was a keeper. everything felt almost perfectly balanced, and fighters/bombers finally have a meaningful role instead of just harrassing other fighter squadrons and picking off resource collectors. As fleetmaster said, the long range missilers add dimensions to fighter rushing. This is a must-have Mod for Homeworld 2!

Awsome modd. Much more better than the origional HW2. I consider this to be the elite version... noobs use the origional to get ready for the hard-play. Its a little complex at first, but now I have the hang of it. Thanks Battlecry.

Wow, I am truly amazed with this mod. I just downloaded the TFS v1.8 version, and I am speechless. This is defiantly how Homeworld 2 was meant to be released, I love the new ships, they make the strategy much more complex. I also like how ships have a more decent amount of weapons; it actually feels like a battlefield now. And another really nice thing about this mod is that fighters are no longer underpowered as they were in the stock Homeworld 2.
This is defiantly the best mod for Homeworld 2, and this is how the game should have been in the first place. Great job.Big Grin! :thumbup:Thumbs Up! Thumbs Up!

Im not sure why, but when the load bar gets to the last bit before finishing, it crashes my computer. Maybe its too graphics intensive or something, but I got it to work on VaygrBT v. Vaygar on the Hiigara map, but it crashes on every other map/race combo. Any ideas?

It seems that the reason for the lags was probably because i was trying out Point Defense System Single Player and the Original Homeworld 2 single player at the same time as TFS single player. I just wanted to get a taste of how they were all different but it seems that it was causing the conflicts because i reset the entire single player campaign and am playing only TFS and i haven't encountered the problem again.

Thanks for whoever was looking into it.

I installed 1.7 and applied the patch as well. Everything works fine and smooth, but whenever i load a savegame in single player it lags. If i restart that mission everything is fine, but loading a savegame makes it lag.

I'm not sure if i should be posting this here, but i couldn't find the website for this mod.

Any help would be appreciated, and congrats on taking the time (without being paid mind you) to make such a great mod, it's like what HW2 should have been, and you should know that your effort is definitely appreciated. Thanks

When ever it's about to load a game the mod crashes. I don't think I messed up the instalation. Would my other mod (Typos EX2.0) cause this?

Please state your comments clearly db12rex. By saying mission mode, are you refering to the campaign? The campaign mode is not fully supported for the TFS mod and has many bugs and can sometimes crash. TFS is more for Skirmish and Multiplayer games. As for the Vaygr Units being overpowered, the game overall is pretty balanced. You just have to know what to build and how to use which unit of each race. And yes, the Vaygr are slightly superior in terms of Strikecraft, as they specialize in small craft.
I refute your comment about Fighters being overpowered, as even the Heavy Bombers seem underpowered against capital ships, but at its current state the game is well balanced. Capital Ships have a decent amount of armor, there is no need to increase this value.
There is no Vaygr "Light Corvette", and as for it being more effective against frigate then the Lance Fighter, that is merley because the Lance Fighter is an Anti-Corvette and Fighter unit, and not an Anti-Frigate fighter. I will look into your claim of losing strikecraft when you hyperspace to the next mission, although there has been no previous reports about this problem.

Thank you all for your comments, they are all appreciated. Any other suggestions are welcome.
