Tactical Fleet Simulator 3G Mod Description:
Tactical Fleet Simulator (TFS) is a complex, total overhaul of Homeworld2 with the objective of transforming the game into a tactics-oriented combat simulator. The large selection of units and the high attrition rates combatants suffer greatly enhances the tactical level of gameplay while still retaining real-time strategy elements. Recurring themes are quasi-modern air and naval doctrines modified for three-dimensional movement, complete with a proper unit classification scheme. Grand strategy plays a significant role, with the emphasize on battlefield adaptability, simulated by the large amount of available assets with similar albeit different roles which requires one to be familiarized with specific acronyms and unit types to maintain flexibility. All of this simulates a more immersing, realistic, adrenaline-soaked game experience that the stock version of Homeworld2 failed to deliver. TFS provides Homeworld2 with a relatively balanced, stable and much desired militaristic look and feel.

TFS Features:
The provision of new, more complex strategies and tactics.
Split-second decisions of what units to build and when to deploy.
Exhausting battles add to the fatigue of simulated combat.
New ships, weapon systems, abilities and attack behaviors.
Dynamic weapon systems, unit mobility and far more realistic three-dimensional movement.
A vast and complex unit selection, each with differing or a slight variance in their role.
New game modes and game options prolong the entertainment factor.
More realistic weapon damage relative to ship armor/health.

Neo-Taiidani Imperial State
(Concept design and models by Battlecry) The Neo-Imperial Taiidan State has emerged from the Vaygr Federation as a semi-autonomous faction after the great war. Among their priorities is the reconstruction of their interstellar empire on a new basis. While nominally still a faction of the greater Vaygr federation, the new Imperial state is moving to
secure full autonomy and dissolve the Vaygr into a loose confederation of spacefaring civilizations. Among its first acts was the establishment of a vast spacecraft and weapon design and production agency enabling the development and mass production of craft more advanced than the standard Vaygr combat craft. The new Taiidan empire has taken advantage of various Vaygr technologies such as pulse-laser cannons and advanced missiles, further refining them to their specifications resulting in advanced micro-missile technology and improved traditional Taiidani weapon systems as mass drivers.

Caylian Federation
(Ship design and models by Flogger23m) The Caylian are a spacefaring civilization from the outer rim with technology comparable to standard Hiigaran and Vaygr ships. Caylian doctrine places an emphasis on high-powered plasma-based weaponry and agile frigates.

Omg. When I played complex, I thought there is no better mods for HW2, and just today I've downloaded THIS. It's awesome!!! (it's not so complicated as complex (in a good meaning of this word) but still, personally I like the gameplay more) I like the idea of auto-launching fighters 107th_Raven suggested. And personally I would like to see some spacestations ingame. Would be epic))) Besides, what about adding a PAUSE button (that works like in KOTOR) so as you could give concrete orders and not sit trying to catch the fighter\subsystem with your mouse (just a suggestion) Also would be great to see fixed fleet formations (that don't break when ships start mooving) that can be set by the player
P.S I like the designs and purposefulness of most ships. 5 stars to you and your mod and all the best!

You are aware of the fact that in singleplayer you can pause the game (and still give orders) with the "pause" button of your keyboard?

I think it would be better to replace the various single modular weapon systems with certain modular weapon system sets like a set which increases the effectiveness against fighter, corvetts, frigates or capital ships. Then there could be better sets unlockable with the advanced MWS research.
That would definitely be much faster manageable and you would still keep the flexibility of the mws.

What i also would love to see is an improved docking system.
Something like this:
The fighters launch automaticly and engage the enemy if the carrier is set to aggressive stance.
The fighters launch automaticly and defend the carrier if the carrier is set to defensive stance and under attack.

Why not handle it like this:

You research a base destroyer chassis with either no armament at all or retireable "standard" turrets.

Once you have done the proper research, you could refit the ship to your liking, with just about any turret that's in the game ATM.

With the Hiigaran type, I'd go for two medium hardpoints abow and astern and a heavy one each on the dorsal and ventral surface amidships, for example.

This is in essence the same thing 107th_Raven proposed to apply to fighters/bombers, only adapted to capital ships.

In essence, you only need three types of small fighter craft, the bomber, the superiority fighter and the interceptor. I like Raven's idea to combine all the different bombers into one chassis that can be adapted to the desired purpose on short notice.

OTOH, the current system lets you select all anti-frigate bombers with a single double click, which would be hard to realize with the system he proposed. Then again, we do have the buttons 1 through 0 for that...

There are a couple of more ideas floating around in my brain, I'll see if I can bring them down on paper sometime ;)
