Tactical Fleet Simulator third generation (TFS 3G) is a complex, total overhaul of Homeworld2 with the objective of transforming the game into a tactics-oriented combat simulator. Recurring themes are quasi-modern (circa 20th century) air and naval doctrines modified for three-dimensional movement, complete with a proper unit classification scheme. Grand strategy plays a significant role, but the emphasis is on battlefield adaptability which is simulated by a large amount of available assets with similar albeit different roles.
TFS v2.7.1 Full Release (12/17/10). The updates consist of rebalancing for multiplayer games. Refinements to in-game effects to boost performance, addresses several balance-related issues,resolves reported issues regarding missile flashes and includes a hotfix file for the third campaign mission.

FFH-35 Heavy Frigate: Turret range decreased to 50km; default armor decreased to 20,000
FC-11B Lance Fighter: LanceBeams no longer disable capital ships and frigates
UWP-S/MRM-8: Default armament 40% more effective against Corvettes
FB-11C Strategic Bomber: Longer reload time for missiles; equipped with self-defense jamming system upgrade
Hiigaran:
CVE-74 Assault Carrier: Removed IPB and MRG turrets and replaced with a single HPC turret; Hiigarans can only build 1 CVE on the moderate unitcap
FFI-43 Mk.2 Ion Frigate: SRM-16 turret does not track secondary targets
DDE-73 Escort Destroyer: Defense field duration decreased by 50%; build cost increased to 3000 RU; ASM-25 torpedo damage decreased by 25%
DDG-72 Torpedo Destroyer: Damage factor to platforms decreased by 50%; four SRM-16 turrets replaced by four KAC-105RF turrets
FF-17A Strike Fighter: Armor increased to 420; Pulsar armament removed
CFB-12 Bomber Corvette: Weapon damage increased by 40% against frigates
Effects:
High-yield warheads appear as yellow dots
The excessive flash effect for FB-11C Strategic Bomber upgraded missiles has been removed
Flashes associated with FFG-45 and CVE-74 long-range missiles have been removed
Dual-layered Mothership/Flagship hull defense guns have been replaced with standardized hull defense cannons
