It's been a while since Alpha-4 was released, but rushing Alpha-5 seems like a stupid idea, so you have to wait for it. The reason for the long development time on this version is because of 3 things:
- It will be the biggest update so far.
- The computer used for modding have been changed to a better one.
- Life happened.
What's completed for Alpha-5 so far:
- The map for "Entrenched Mess" was updated. It now has accurate terrain settings (the sea is now sea) & have some more details.
- 2 new uniform textures.
- 3 new maps, a new mission & 2 new training missions.
- 10 new weapons.
- 2 new helmets.
- 3 new ammunition types.
- Multi-Player now supported & over-hauled.
- American faction was merged with British.
- British is now Finland-Poland, Russian is now USSR & American is now USA-Gr.Britain.
- Single-Player is now available through campaign menus.
- Vanilla missions have been removed from both Single-Player & Multi-Player mission lists.
- Increased stack limits for 2 ammunition types.
- Machine-Gun max-range increased from 60 to 75.
- All campaigns removed & 1 added with 1 mission so far.
The new training missions explain both the mod-specific features & the vanilla game-play, including how to use trains & attach things to them properly.
Multi-Player factions will no longer play the same as each-other, they now have their own pros & cons.
The new campaign have several "hero" characters with full names & some dialogue in the missions, but intentionally placed before & after specific combat events with as few exceptions as possible. The dialogue is also kept a bit on the short side. The characters also have specific roles & some personality, although you can ignore their skill perks & give them whatever equipment you like as usual.
What's planned for Alpha-5:
- At least 2 missions for the new campaign. (1 finished)
- A new video better show-casing the mod with better quality than the current ones, possibly intro.
- Possibly 1 or 2 more training missions.
- Possibly a new uniform texture.
- Possibly new back-ground scenes in menus.
The speed at which the mod is being developed is probably going to slow down some in the future, but I have no intention of abandoning the mod at least until the campaign is finished.
