System Shock Infinite 2.0 has been released!

We are pleased to announce that the beta phase is now over and the mod can be played in full.
The team wishes to thank all who contributed to the project with their tests and reports!

System Shock Infinite is a story mod which extends the original finale with a quest to restore the amnesiac protagonist's identity, through hundreds of new events in the main campaign. Since version 2.0, the quest continues into all-new Cyberspace levels and features a plotline with multiple endings. Enjoy our extended trailer for a complete preview of the mod!

What is the story about? System Shock 2 never ended: to this day, the amnesiac player is still trapped in Shodan's virtual reality. Taking inspiration from Solaris and Groundhog Day, the story presents you with a stream of hallucinations about your lost comrades. Each has their point of view on the situation and yourself. The ones you trust rebuild your new identity, breaking the stalemate. Full script.

How does it play like? Shaken, not stirred: the new events are familiar variations of the vanilla ones. To tackle the issue of difficulty within the previous version, combat in 2.0 can be as advanced as you like. Play on the lower difficulties and you get a FPS with rpg elements. Play on the hardest setting and you get an RPG with shooting mechanics, requiring good knowledge of the skills system.

How do I install this mod? Add this launch option to the Steam edition of System Shock 2: "-fm".
Click "yes" when prompted about creating the \FMs folder and move the mod's folder into \FMs.
Alternatively, the ss2bmm.exe mod launcher can also be used.

If you are using the GOG edition of System Shock 2: run the included SSTool utility and update
the game to the latest patch. Move the mod's folder into \DMM and run the ss2bmm.exe mod launcher.

Edit cam_mod.ini and remove the semicolon from ";fm" (so it's just "fm"). Next time you run the game, a mod selector will show up and create it folder "FMs". Last unpack the mod in FMs\Infinite.

I can't work out how to install this mod to work with the Steam version. I click on "Launch with Fan missions" in the Steam launcher and this created an FM folder. I then selected the zipped mod and it installed it and I clicked on Play FM. The game loads, if I click Load Game my last save from the vanilla game is not there so I clicked on New Game but I just get the vanilla game load up.

Unpack the mod's archive into "SS2\FMS\System Shock Infinite", but double check that the unzip program doesn't create two "System Shock Infinite" folders one inside the other. If you see a new Main Menu, select New Game and get a "14 years ago" message, it works.

Okay it works...but, I thought this was a whole new mission - it looks like its the vanilla game but with obvious differences. I was hoping the mod was a continuation from the end of the original game. I've only just finished the original game I don't want to replay it again even if it a little different.

Also why isn't there a crosshair? And when I shoot hybrids I hear them say "no damage" - WTF?

Watch the trailer to get an idea of what the mod offers, it's up to you to decide whether this is a little or big difference. If you want the crosshair, add the 6 Hours mutator on top of your installation. Marie will train you about what weapons damage what targets, failing that you hear "no damage!".

It seems I have run into another strange bug. If I leave the central part of the recreation deck into the crews quarters, everything resets. And it seems that I'm leaving the Infinite Content entirely, since returning to the central chamber showed a character who shouldn't have been there while Marie is gone.

Are there no Marie in this reset level, is it a vanilla one or just an Infinite one you're vising like new? I need to know which level you were in, before you switched and got this bug (Recreational with garden? With shops? Another deck with elevator?). I guess you are playing v1.7, and didn't update your installation along the way. I'm investigating, but these random bugs just pop out when the game is run for several hours (but you can still progress, right?).

I was in the central part, so the first area you reach from the elevator. And from there I went into the crew's quarters (after getting the Ops Override Key) and it did seem like Vanilla System Shock, since there were no Maries or any other objects that should have been in Infinite.
And the other areas seemed to be the same after that, which is why I simply reloaded. All the other doors work fine, though.

And yeah, I did use 1.7 after making the game mod-ready. It's placed in the FM directory if that helps.
And I got all the way to the end of the mod, although I got stuck since I never looked at the notes and had to read up about destroying the black eggs, since the door to the bridge doesn't open if they're intact. It's been too long since I played the original.

I have been looking for errors in the changelevel triggers, but couldn't find any. I can only guess that due a bug, vanilla resources were loaded instead of the modded ones. :\ Good thing you were still able to compete the game, you can check the alternate ending requirements and videos around here.
