As the work keeps piling up and the preview was not stable enough, today we are releasing yet another step in the staircase to stability, a release candidate.

These are the main features and changes:

  • Stability, tidiness and optimization.
  • A special emphasis on scene editing, entry points and AI movement.
  • New models and graphical enhancements, both in third person and strategic mode.
  • Six new music tracks by Vladan Zivanovic.
  • Localized to a whole lot of languages; CS, DE, ES, FR, IT, NL, PL, RU.
  • Even more balancing and corrections.
  • Menus and dialogs adapted to the Star Wars lore.

Even with the enourmous effort made lately in its playability this is a work in progress release, particularly lacking polishment.

Known problems:

  • Missing or placeholder models.
  • Bald women and face morphing weirdness.
  • Doesn't works on Warband or With Fire and Sword.
  • Graphic glitches when playing on DirectX 7 (FFP) mode.

We expect your feedback, report us your bugs/enhancements one at a time at our bugtracker:

Please do not create duplicates if possible, as the free time required to sort them out is better employed in other things.

Tell us what you think in the comments below, and have fun.

Rewriting the death cam thing was pretty discouraging back in august. That is a case of insanely greasy spaghetti code.

First, is hard to remove without affecting the game. There's a lot of little pieces to track down. Complexity-wise you've to read and understand more than a thousand lines of un-commented, cryptic, flawed, buggy logic which interacts with the victory conditions of the battles and causes all kinds of bizarre tricks.

Now imagine that you do all this in your free time. Seems appealing? I spent more than a month on that before giving up.

I understand you... and remember if he did show an progress it would mainly be in code not model or textures and he does this all in his free time we should just be glad we have something to play. Patience is a virtue a hard and sometimes long venture but with much merrit.

I just have to take breaks before burning out, tackling problems from a new perspective or just finding it fun again.

It happens in cycles and makes me excited all over again.

So porting TLD also serves as a change of pace to working on this for awhile, and that's one of the reasons you're working on that as well, I'm guessing?

Hmm... I pretty much understand your feelings about this. Unfortunately, I've never worked with python before, I would offer my help if I just could.
I ain't even mad, just seeing a little activity here holds up the spirit =]

They mentioned it on their wiki FAQ, and that was updated July 2013, so I hold high hopes.
