Star Wars Conquest is a Mount&Blade; module which transforms a medieval world into the far, far away galaxy... with the same premises than the original game, this module offers an open sandbox where the player can do anything he wants. Based on a Galactic map and hundreds of planets.

What really bothers me with equipment is that I always end up using looted equipment for my character and companions. That way, I can fight for the Rebels, for example, but I'll end up using the equipment of my enemies. I have a few suggestions to make this more realistic:

1) When the player joins a faction, give him a rank, similar to the rank of the troops. For example, the player joining the Rebels would get a rank of Recruit. The player advances in rank as he/she fight the enemies of the faction and does quests for faction leaders. Whenever the player advances in rank, he/she gets a set faction-specific armor for free. For example, an Imperial player could receive a full set of Stormtrooper armor.

2) For each battle against the enemies of a quest for faction leaders, the player could also receive some Faction Points which would allow him/she to get additional sets of armor to equip the companions. These points could also be used to hire more experienced troops, since it is impossible to hire experienced faction-specific troops at the moment.

3) Players wearing armor that is considered a distinctive mark of enemy faction should get relationship penalties with settlements they visit and characters they talk to that belong to their own faction. If the relationship is too low, the player could get attacked by the guards. For example, the Rebel player might get away with Stormtrooper gauntlets or boots, but wearing a Stormtrooper Armor of Helmet on a Rebel planet should cause the player's relationship with the planet to drop. Same for talking to a Rebel leader while wearing Imperial armor.

Some rebels used imperial outfits cause they were basicly imperial deserters. Plus, I don't think the player would like to change equipment every time he visits a planet...

About more faction specific features... I hope we get more in the future (Warband).

I like option 2 where the player can amass faction points, perhaps that he can use for faction specific items from special merchants of that faction. For example an Imperial player would be able to exchange these points for different Imperial officer outfits, perhaps starting at "Stormtrooper Officer" armour and working up from there to Grand Moff. The first suggestion isn't so good, starting at Stormtrooper seems a little odd as then some of your troops would be higher ranked than you which is unrealistic. I like the third idea, seems to add realism but would take a lot of work to make it work for every armour piece

Well, it's odd in that you are used as a special agent and are treated as a stormtrooper. But what I had in mind for a future feature is being able to be a normal soldier.

Yo go to any leader or maybe any location and get recruited. From there you are given a stormtrooper armour and an e-11 for example, an are asignated to a lord. From then on you become part of the lord's party and battle in the fights in which he or she takes part. This way you would get a little pay for your services, plus free armor and weaponry. But of course you would only travel were the lord wanted to, and problably you would stay a lot of time on a single planet, as temporal garrison.

You wouldn't be able to command any men of course. And if you get out you could do it the legal way (giving your armour and weapons back and no more). Or the illegal way. With this second way you would keep your wepons and go away with some soldiers which you convice (they are your friends or whatever). You would desert, so at the same time the relation with the faction would drop.

That sounds like a neat idea RevanShan, but would you be physically part of the lords party like when you are captured by an enemy party?

Good idea. Its very realistic. But if you will be the part of the Lords party, will you have an access to loot besides your little payment?

Yeah, I supose.

But don't get your hopes up, I'm not a codder and somebody would have to do it...

I need something worth coding since Swyter doesn't need help until the Warband port.

I am already working on a generic cross-mod system for enlisting as a soldier. However, I am having trouble locating the menu system that governs the lord interaction.

You would have to give back your army items, not those you had before...

I believe I am already close to finishing the enlisted soldier mod. I have already added text between you and the lord, the lord gives you equipment based on his faction, and you becoming part of his party.

I would like to know how the desertion method should be implemented, if you should be paid and how much, and if you should be able to rank up based upon either the amount of experience that you have or the lord's relation.

Ithilienranger, I've sent you a PM regarding all this recruitment feature.
