Chapter Two: Reinventing the Wheel
The Good ideas have Already been Taken.

Most of the time I spend with modding it's dedicated to find new ways to make possible interesting stuff in a innovative way. What did you think it's possible to make into a barbarian game? The game doesn't even support glass!! To make the simplest thing in this engine it's required to take the tricky way. That's the funny part.

Some of the new stuff included in the 0.9.0.4 it's my gate.sys, a new never seen before (here), complex, boring, debugged, polished, hacky code framework to make virtually unlimited working dynamic doors. Yeah, you read pretty well: now our mod will have Star Wars electronic doors. That means new tactics!
And that toke me a month and a half. Why?

This game it's so tricky that it's no data array support, so basically I'm using a walking variable as replacement. What? Yeah, I'm using the health, skills and proficiencies of a guy named Mr Gates for storing if a electronic door it's opened or not. So if you see him in the game please don't kill my boolean mate. :)

You are probably thinking 'oh man, that it's crap, I going to do some facepalms O_o' So now I will post a rough video showcase for some handy eye candy stuff.
And... because tech demos are boring and ugly I populated the video with almost interesting test notes !!

Nice job(hurray for innovation :D). I have two questions:
1. does the AI walk through doorways normally or do they try to walk around them?
2. are all doors automatic or are some opened by a switch?

// 1. They walk perfectly, the AI pathing was tested before starting the complex routines and that kind of boring stuff.

// 2. They're fully automated, manual interaction can be easily plugged in seconds if needed. :)

// 3. We're currently testing the battle tactics, and the new possibilities this kind of dynamic scene interaction offers.
As far as I know this haven't done before. Not with this level of independence, deployment and optimization. :rambo:

So can't wait. I hope you can make this easily translate this to Warband when the time comes. :dead: Ahem...sorry for the 100,987,242 comment about porting it to Warband. Hehe.

I can't wait for those doors! It seems like such a simple thing but I can imagine it having awesomely cool in game consequences, for example waiting with your small elite team of troops for the enemy to breach the door and then blasting them to hell one by one as they try to make it through. Great work guys! Also can't wait to see what the speeder surprise is!

So do we have some good thermal detonators for door breaching? :rambo:
