Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2, sequel to the popular Sven Co-op mod for Half-Life, will add co-operative multiplayer (players vs. computer-controlled enemies) to Valve's "Half-Life 2" (Among other things).

Sven Co-op, the original Half-Life co-operative mod, is currently the most popular co-operative modification in the world, with over 500,000 recorded downloads of Sven Co-op version 3.0.

Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 will benefit not only from Half-Life 2’s highly advanced engine, greater volume of content and extensive feature set, but also from new and innovative gameplay resulting from four years of experience with the genre. Among the new features will be the ability for mapmakers to create their own game modes, and features to make gameplay more rewarding.

"Our current plan is to release a beta version of the mod as soon as we have the HL2 single-player storyline working well co-operatively... giving you all something to play (and the mapping community something to work with) while we work on more advanced features."

You... Dare?

Synergy is done and it has Gargantuas, Bullsquids, Houndeyes, Gornachs, Panthereyes and a bunch of more NPCs. It also includes a new weaponry and a zillion maps.

Sven-Coop 2 WILL NEVER beat Synergy, we can even do a whole Half-Life map on Synergy.

Just give up. It has been YEARS since we don't have a video, or a beta. PLEASE. GIVE UP. And also, if you don't, do something better than Black Mesa, or else, prepair to get flamed by the kind ModDB community :P

A zillion maps? So quantity over quality, I guess? How many of them is actually fun to play?

And please, a "Give up." statement just because some other mod were first isn't really a fair thing to say.

And...

"Sven-Coop 2 WILL NEVER beat Synergy"

Sigh. When did the Half-Life 2 modding scene become a sport event? I thought it was a hobby for people to gather together and do something for fun in their spare time?

While Synergy is a good mod it doesn't really live up to the original Sven. I admit i was tired of waiting for Sven for HL2 so I played Synergy instead (Version 1.1). Synergy's main problem is its overuse of dark and cramp maps (also a rather evil puzzle map is popular at the moment). If a server has 10 people playing then its possible that 3 people will be stuck at the back doing nothing. This is especially a problem when playing the original HL2 maps (e.g. 10 people trying to play the boat map). Synergy is best with just a few players while Sven for HL1 (been a while since i played) was normally better when more people joined.

In fact i think I'll reinstall Sven for HL1 now.

They need to stop 4.0. its over, not many people still play Half life mods anymore, Why dont they just admit it and go for Source! Its all pointless because when they release 4.0 the only people who are going the play it are probably the some of the people already owning 3.5

There is still quite a few people playing Sven Co-op online, just check the server browser and you'll find more than 50 servers and most of them with players on.

And "not many people still play Half life mods anymore" is completely untrue.

First, 3.5 and 4.0 are the same.
Second, shut the hell up, kid.
HL1-mods have still a large community, that plays regularly.

it's on hold until they are done with 4.0
and yes, people still play hl1-mods, so shut the hell up about it.
