Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2, sequel to the popular Sven Co-op mod for Half-Life, will add co-operative multiplayer (players vs. computer-controlled enemies) to Valve's "Half-Life 2" (Among other things).
Sven Co-op, the original Half-Life co-operative mod, is currently the most popular co-operative modification in the world, with over 500,000 recorded downloads of Sven Co-op version 3.0.
Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 will benefit not only from Half-Life 2’s highly advanced engine, greater volume of content and extensive feature set, but also from new and innovative gameplay resulting from four years of experience with the genre. Among the new features will be the ability for mapmakers to create their own game modes, and features to make gameplay more rewarding.
"Our current plan is to release a beta version of the mod as soon as we have the HL2 single-player storyline working well co-operatively... giving you all something to play (and the mapping community something to work with) while we work on more advanced features."

You guys are right about one thing. We need to finish SC 4.0 already (on the HL1 engine) and move on to bigger and better things.

This is going to be great, even though it will be tough to achieve the same charme Sven Co-op I has.
I think that Sven Coop 2, and Black Mesa Source should co-op. That we could play BMS thru with our friends and the weaponery of Sven Coop.

God, MenteR PLEASE. Give it a second thought. Synergy got it's idea from Sven Co-op. Though Synergy is a fairly popular and large mod, Sven Co-op still manages to keep us all hooked though it has "no updates" for years now. Sven Co-op is the best. THE BEST. I have nothing against Synergy mind you.
I agree with Forsete about people playing halflife mods. The greatest example is Natural Selection. Although, my computer has a hard time with their servers (LAGGG), it was still fun and lots of people still play it. Hell, even deathmatch classic has people still playing, as another example. As far as Synergy, I never got the game to function properly so I can't argue about whether or not it was great. Can't wait for Sven Coop 4.0.
