In the 21st Century, Humanity was warned of the consequences of global warming and paid little attention to the warnings. As years passed, sea levels rose and coasts were sunken, towns became flooded and entire countries became submerged. To cope with this global disaster, the world's super-powers swiftly created M.E.V's (Multi Environment Vehicles) capable of traversing the remaining land and travelling through water. However, in the face of extinction, Humanity refuses to unite and warring factions sprang up, laying claim to the remaining land and resources. Submergence is a multiplayer modification of Unreal Tournament 2004, focusing on Vehicle combat, on-land and underwater, with destructible environments. Submergence is produced by Aftermath Studios, a joint project between 11 Computer and Video Games Design students at Salford University.

Well, after a fair bit of time beavering away over the Summer for returning to University, all the members of Aftermath Studios are caught up and don't have time to give Submergence the attention it deserves.

To those who downloaded and tried the game, thank you, and to those who still wish to download feel free to have a look at some awesome Artwork, Design, Programming and Level Design - if you're lucky, you might even get into a game with someone else!

Thanks to the development team involved, speaking from my personal point view, it was awesome to work with everyone.

Keep your eyes peeled however for a resurrection of Submergence at some point, it's an excellent IP we wholly wish to take further.

As far as i know its under the green light.

Hopefully i shall be updated soon regarding the everything and i will ether get back to you here or a site update/clean up will conferm everything.

Hello Everybody,

Times have been busy lately with new stuff going on more stuff to work on and most importantly more stuff to play (cough) study.

As far as i know Submergence is now *dead* >>

Not the download ya'll see there just the project and future updates unfortunatly the team has been disbanded for a month now.

I would like to hear from anyone at all who has played this with there friends, tell me your experiences I would love to hear how it went. (I see votes dont be shy :) )

If there are people out there who still cannot play it due to unknown internet errors, NAT problems etc we are really sorry to hear of this. Sometimes resetting the routers settings for UT2004 should help. The game was tested with its internet settings in place at the University of Salford by a number of individuels, these settings were never tampered with since. (The games hosted were not run over LAN)

To end i just want to give a big thanks to everyone who has or who will download the game, we hope you enjoy the experience us newbies created :D

Ok we hosted some games before with muchas technical dificulties regarding our "pinging" with each other we just had N/A or ? next to our names and on entering the load screen would not appear or the connection didnt tsop and load us the game up to the hosts.

It appears that even tho we have cancelled our firewalls, made sure icmp is working and at times tried our computers in the DMZ settings. It still will not load us in to each others games.

I think matt may look into this but that depends on the time he has.

We do know it works due to when we were testing the game we used our Universitys PC's which have the ports properly configured. So it really just takes a person who knows there settings are sweet who can host in UT2004 to get a game going.

Sorry if you tried to enter our games before and got no where :(

If you wish to join in and come play please do, ill give you some tips on hosting games in submergence so you can carry on playing more :).

Just to add, unfortunatly there will never be any around the clock dedicated servers from us due to not having time/resources for this game, so you will have to host your own games.

I’m just a guy who likes really good concept modifications for UT2k4; I’ve started to get back into Vehicle combat due to playing a lot on UT3 VCFT online, really enjoy it as it can be a right bloodbath, slaughter or a great win for your team as.

For me UT2k4 is one of the best game I’ve ever bought as it has a wide range of modifications for it, and has a really good online community, normally find UT2k4 online players always play fair, and never really glitch, well except the players who just F*** about and just interested in not working together as a team to win the match

At the moment I’m a clan member with AM (Axe Men) of the modification called Killing Floor “they even call me a legend, thou I’ve never stated I am, just a keen player of co op game who like surviving horror as such” so I tend to spend a lot of gaming time with my mates on that, but its will be nice to have a break once in a while and play some hardcore vehicle Combat, but your mod has great potential. The idea of a Multi Environment Vehicles just sounds so cool, just image if a vehicle was created in the real world, so cool. So hope to see you online and keep up the good work so far, online I’ll called rpdumbrellastars so see you when I see you¬

Killing Floor :D I never had the pleasure of playing it but it did catch my eye in the first week of development, im so glad you have reminded me because I have been putting my self off downloading it due to work and I just gotta play it. I remember talking to Deadstar(Matt) about it watching the video and looking at the effects just seeing the flickering lights made me go ooooo lol. Unfortunatly i never got greatly advanced with UT2k4's UnrealEd2 it was an on and off relationship full of missing features, bugs and much love when something worked :P. But when you have that to do in 3 months and other stuff its very hard to have the time for everything even if we did go over the bar for what was really required of us which wasent much :P. For my next Project I and the team im working with shall be using UnrealEd 3.0 but this time i have a few months of learning before hand (woot!).

Oh and this username "Qubeulater" is my UT3 Friends tag and Xboxlive Gamer Tag. If i dont get round to adding you soon on UT3 then just add me and we will play sometime, I play it a lot on VCTF also :)

Well I have had a word with my programmer Matt for answers and well he said he hasent a spare PC to just keep on running for a bit unfortunatly.

So before I go in to some cool details I will just note this. If you want to host a server for a game theres "LAN" box that needs to be unticked in the options. As of then you can host which is all cool and dandy but finding people to play with may be harsh right now :(.

So here is what im going to do to kick start things off, our final hand-ins for the other work we have to do is friday so we are quite tied up till then and most of us only have the weekend before our next mod projects start :/ i know i wanted a nice summer break/vacation :P.

I am going to try and round up some of the team and if I can get in contact with before hand the testers. Then as of friday I or we will be hosting games for people to come in and play and hopefully start up there own matches also ;).

So you can get to play with us and even ask us any questions to want, just dont ask a level designer and artist question so check our names/gamernames via the Aftermath Studios Moddb page :P.

This also applys to gamers out there who have downloaded the game already and who want to download the game, we will be there on friday! :D (and possibly over the weekends at random times due to weekedns jobs etc etc).

I cannot state a time just yet but i will state one between wednesday and thursday. Also that time will be in GMT (london time) so if you live in another contry please check your times to ours ;)

And again thank you for your comment it makes our day to see people liking the look of our modification and what we have done, now lets hope we can have people love playing it :D
