A starship troopers mod for BFME adding the mobile infantry and elements of it's fleets and the arachnids as playable sides. At the moment a campaign mode will be included but if it proves to be a very hard task this may not be included in the mod. The campaign will follow the marauders fighting the arachnids on several different planets alongside the M.I. and fleet. Or take on the side of the arachnids and fight with overwhelming numbers ferocity and organic war machines to defeat the humans. It is a total conversion with 2 new sides with dozens of new models and lines of dialogue. Custom bases that change to support the different races will also be included and will be an enjoyable feature for fans to control.

In short i was reviewing the plans I had for this mod and although there is little to no development going on at the present time I am still going to change the mod to the Battle For Middle Earth engine so I can further the experience this mod can provide with sufficient help. Therefore I am looking for anyone with modding experience and in particular modding experience of BFME 1 as the team want to see this mod idea become a reality and with the communities help it could be completed and released.

Yeah well, they need to get someone on the team who can rig up skeletons and knows the way animation files are used; I can't do this and I need advice from someone who knows their stuff about how to attack the problem. Once that is sorted, I could do more models and start animating.

I'd like to do some more work for you guys, but I'm going on a short holiday for the next week or two. I should be able to check this site occasionally, but I won't be able to do any modelling until I get back. Let me know your impressions of the screenshot I linked to in the previous comment, bearing in mind it is only going to be seen from a great distance.

For any type of modding, you might want to search for FinalBIG, a program for viewing .big files. It lets you extract all the files (code, models, textures, sounds, etc) that Generals runs on. Without a .big program, you can't start modding.

Use a program like Notepad to edit .ini code files.
Use a program like GMax to edit .3ds model files.
Use a program like Photoshop to edit .dds texture files.
Use a program like Audacity to edit .wav sound files.

All of those types of files are extracted using your .big program.

On another note, I've modelled and textured a M.I. Marauder suit, and I intend to learn how to do skeletons and animations to see if I can get a full unit going. If I can get my head around skeletons and animations I should be able to modify this model to create a M.I. Scout suit and M.I. Command suit.
